I heard that Ford has replaced the Shaker A system (one that skips and everyone is complaining about) with a new Shaker B system?
I was told the B system doesnt have those problems....?
Anyone?

There is a thread in the interior section about this. Sounds pretty true to me.

Yea, thats mine.
I just got the new one this week........ The stereo guy told me it was an electronic problem causing the gremlins and Ford updated it and reissued the shaker.
No problems at all......
Do the self test in that topic, mine ends in B....

Hey Bill maybe they didn't have the part and put a charge through and your friend thought all was well. Heck I've seen that happen far to many times , I usually make stuff with a UV pen to check up on them.

Are self-burned CDs working in the Series B head units? Or is that still a problem?
Hope not---I like to compile my own mixes and burn the CD. That also lets me keep the store bought discs safe at home.

In my case, they work--some of the time. I have some home-burned MP3 discs, and sometimes it will spit them out with a terse, "bad disc". Other times the same disc will play just fine.
I might add that none of those discs had the slightest problem, EVER, with the MP3 player in my previous car.
And yes, I have a Series A. For now. Going to get it replaced as soon as I get the chance.

I have the series B. I only have 2 self burned cd's so far. They work great. One is a regular length file w/18 songs, the other is an MP3 with Chicago's complete work. No problems. Commercially released cd's are playing fine also.

I'll run the self-test on my Shaker 500 when the car comes in to see if I have the Series B (built 1/12/05, so maybe we got lucky).
Thanks again.

yea I ran the self test. I have tried and tried different discs, different software, slower/faster burn speed, etc. Out of about 15 cd's, none of them work in the shaker. They all work in my PC and in my Panasonic home theater system (which is awesome, by the way)

Just curious. Were the CD's you burned "finalized". You need to do this to home burned CD's before they work on something other than PC's and maybe your home theater has the ability to work around this.

I ordered my 05 GT in June, built in Sept., picked up late October. In November, took it back to the dealer and they replaced the Shaker 1000. They said the serial numbers on the new unit were different from the original one. The stereo itself worked, but I discovered at night that the the backlit lights did not work. So, back to the dealership it went. Turns out that the stereo needed to be reprogrammed. Works fine now. I just went out and checked my car, and the serial is SR3T 18CB 15JA.
No problems so far.

when you do the self test on the shacker the number that is displayed is not the one that revision "a" or "b" make reference too. mine ends in "g". i have asked my dealer to confirm, said they have to pull the unit to find out.

What's the deal with the "reprogramming" I have read about in this and other threads? Does anyone know how to do it, I'd love to avoid a trip to the dealer.
