Hopefully one of y'all can answer a question for me (yes, another one). If I read the VIN decoding info correctly, the sequence number is the last six digits of the VIN and should start with the number '1' or higher. Since my seq# is 200887, does that mean there are 100887 vehicles to be built before they get to mine?

Can't help you, but my sequence # was 205889 and it was a 2006. So I doubt there are that many in line ahead of you.
You might drop a line to Kzinti over at BON. I think he is gone at the present moment due to a family death, but when he gets back I bet he could better answer your question.

I think I had read here the first car that rolls off the line is 100001, I am 148484, so I am car 48,484 for 2006 model year. You are the 100,887th Mustang to roll off the line for 2006. That is why you have a 2.

This is for an '07 I've ordered, not an '06 (see signature below). Thanks anyway.

Sequence number has nothing to do with VIN. It is a trackin number for the vehicle through the plant. It doesn't reference date and it resets every so often (not sure on the frequency)... There is a phone number you can call to get your VIN number once you get your sequence number though... your dealer should have it.

There might be info from the fall of '05 somewhere in the forums on this, I remember it being discussed back then but if I recall correctly, your VIN doesn't actually reflect the order or place in line it was built. There were people with the same build date, or buck date, or something like that, that were thousands off, and they don't make that many in a day, or even week.
I don't remember if anyone got the official answer from Ford, but I do recall seeing this discussion while I was waitng for my chance to order.
