Are you saying that the people who buy mustangs wont spend the money for some upscale options. Or they cant afford upscale options. Or Ford simply doesnt want this to be an upscale car???

Well compared to the GTO's option list or lack there of, we should be pleased with what options we have. The only choices GTO owners got was exterior color, interior color and type of transmission.

It would be great to see the return of the Grandé touring coupe - only thoroughly modern and luruxy oriented. I bet baby-boomers would ****** them up if they were done tastefully.

Ya know Decipher, I was gonna post something similiar to that (red is soooooo 70's), but in any case you can always have the upholstery replaced aftermarket, from seat covers to a brand new Gucci love fest...depending on how far ya want to go
lol. What I picture for the Grandé would be a nice fully loaded premium GT with the spoler delete, some tasteful chrom accents on the body, and all the power this, adjustable that, computer controlled gadgets that people are used to in luxury cars along with special "touring" suspension for a smooth ride. IRS would be a plus, and would be needed to compete with, say, a Mercedes or a BMW M-class. Something for the rich baby-boomers that there seems to be so many of. Granted, it may also compete with the Tbird in that price range, but that's no big deal.
I'm just thinking (cover your heads) but what other colors are in demand besides Grey, Black, and Beige. How many people are asking for white leather, baby blue clothe, or osh kosh b'gosh denim (thank you, AMC)? If their was a major demand for it, it would be on the car (or probably would be, see 18" wheels)

Its the Canadian influence I tells ya...
yes let's just have more gray and tan interiors... yawn
The "Canuck Package (1 EH)"
Hmm, an aftermarket company could make a real killing by fixing some of these complaints, imagine a ducktail trunk, invisible antenna, grille inserts (i.e. stang insignia with chrome 'wings'), blue seats, maple leaf patches, etc.

Note the "thoroughly modern" part of the sentence. lol. It would suck if it were just a tacky 70's throw back.

ooh ooh and **** carpet...on all interior surfaces (like Austin Powers' car in Goldmember)
LOL maybe it's not ****...but it's SHAGADELIC BABY YEAH!
mustang and upscale: don't think those two words were discussed much together when the plans were made for the 05 stang. the mustang is definitely a "bang for your buck" type of car and anything that can be done to keep the cost down is paramount to the design team. it means that some corners are cut and it's hard to understand why, sometimes, but the cheapest sticker price carries alot of weight on the showroom floor, imo.
for me, i am not a happy camper that the rear sway bar won't be installed on the v6...i am purposely buying the v6 for better handling and not having the sway bar in the back is a real drawback...but...cost is king. jackg 90 seville 94k
