As you probably noticed now, the seal belt magnetic straps on our 05s are worthless - terrible design.

For one the magnet is not strong enough and easily detaches.

Secondly, even if it did not detach, it still doesn't hold the seat belt in a position that doesn't require you to have the flexibility of a contortionist.

Your thoughts?

I've had no problem with it at all. It's not only magnetic, for a temporary hold if you need to get in and out of the back seat a lot, but it also snaps in place. And I find it quite easy to reach back and get the belt. It does, however (and has been brought up before), ride high on the side of the neck. (and I'm 6' 1 1/2")

I'm 6' 0" and this is the best fitting seatbelt that I've had. The magnet is still worthless, though. A snap or a heavier magnet would have been better.

Works great for me - I think its pretty good. The Only time it unsnaps on its own is if I am trying to vaccum in the backseat or move the passenger seat all the way up to load something big in. I'm actually kinda surprised it holds as well as it does for me...

And I have no trouble reaching for the seatbley - not at all.

The magnet hasn't detached on mine yet. Works good AFAIC.

Still undecided if it's any better than the guide attached to the top of the seat in the SN95 models though...

IMO It's way better than the SN95's as far as looks and placemet.
I agree that the magnet could have been stronger, but i all honesty, I've had it pop off maybe three times in the 5 months i've had here.
not a big problem at all, verry effective, and pleasing design

yeah that snap is worthless. Mine is always undone....can we cut it off since it doesn't serve a purpose?

You kind of have to look at it from 2 points of view:

1. If you never use your backseat and want the harness snapped in all the time - then yes the magnet and snap is not strong enough, but

2. If you use the backseat often - the magnet and snap is just strong enough to hold the belt in place - but not so strong that it is a hassle to unsnap it to get in the backseat.

I find that it works out very nicely, but you have to get used to reaching for your belt down low near wear snaps instead of wear it retracts into the body.

I found that if I let the belt back with my hand, the magnet works fine, but if I just let go of the belt after releasing it, the magnet lets go sometimes. For me it's a good minder not to just let go of the belt and let it fly! The magnet sure could be stronger though.

The things come undone even when not holding the seat belt. Although I have not found it hard to reach for the belt it really makes me wonder, why is it a magnet. Wouldnt a fixed belt strap or atleast a snap be better? The magnet is pretty weak. The who thing seems like an after thought to me.

Maybe we should be looking for a decent snap as a replacement....shouldn't be a difficult thing to change out. Maybe stainless steel?

Mine never come undone on their own (only when i purposely unsnap them when vacuuming).

Do you have them snapped into place as well?
