SCT Outdated Maybe? what do you think..
Hey guys, I was just curious about a tune that i have on my car.. Its a tune from Brenspeed, on the SCT XCAL2 FORD tuner.. It has all the current Mods of the car, TB, Intake, Full Exhaust, Thumpr Cam, all loaded back in 2009.. The car drives ok, just bucks at low speeds when im not concentrating on it. I was wondering if you guys think that maybe there are better tunes out now for the driveability, as this is my DD.. Also, if it would work for me to get a new tune added to the XCAL2.. Or if I need a newer tuner all together, and just set this one to stock and throw it in the shed.. Any info is appreciated, Thanks in Advance..
i think its just gonna be a question of if your x2 can be upgraded for the newer tunes. they used to be a ll3 i think back then and now the formats are .cef. ( or something like that) they have come a long ways with tunes and i think you might benefit from a new tune. i would call around.
you do know that most these other tuners are made by SCT and they are rebranded and have other tunes installed. Some say that is good and some say it is bad. I myself do not know but always went with SCT and their tunes to be safe.
I've had a Brenspeed tune since 2006 and still going strong. I have contacted them to see if I needed to do anything since the tune is so old, they stated that as long as I have not upgraded anything that would require a tune that I should be ok. Here we are 13 yrs later and no issues.
yeah a tune should last forever, should never "go bad" as long as there are no new changes to the car
but sometimes the "adaptive learning" can cause strange behavior, doesn't hurt to do a reset every now and then (either reload a tune, or disconnect the battery for a while)
my guess going back to the OP's "bucking" issue was that the throttle body probably needed to be cleaned, it was not an issue with the tune going bad
