I live in Norther MI and like many others across the country have a 05 GT on order.

And probably like many of those others, always hope that I will find one just like I ordered by checking out dealer inventory.

So I can fly there and drive it home. Wishful thinking!

I have many dealers here within 50 miles that have yet to even see a GT, but some have them on order. Either as dealer stock or as a customer order.

While surfing, I found a dealership in CA (Villa Ford) that has over 100 GT's in dealer stock. Why would he have 100 and the local dealership can't even get one?

Why isn't my order treated with some priority by FMC?

My dealer tells me Ford has an allotment system. 13 dealerships near me shared 5 Mustang allotments for the whole of Jan. and not many more for Feb. :notnice:

Why isn't my order more important than a dealers stock order?

Waiting!

I think the warmer states are getting all the dealer stock right now. There has only been 5 at the dealer where I got mine and they all have sold.

I don't know. GT's are just as scarce in SW FL. I stated in an earlier thread, Fords ordering system stinks. I know this is different than what you're saying, but... It would be better if 'custom' orders were pulled in the order they were placed, and Ford saved the allocation crap for the 'lot' cars.

Ahh, it ain't so bad,

would you really want to drive your new mustang in all this salt? I personally would rather pick mine up when the snow is gone.

My dealer has had 2 maybe 3 in and that's it, :notnice: they don't have a clue when they will get more. They have plenty of V6's though.

I rarely see GT's period...except for mine. I've seen 3 others on the road. I live right behind a Ford dealership (incidentally I didn't order from them...too pushy) and they have like 7 V6's in the front of the dealership.

The only problem with this is that dealers would just order every vehicle as a "sold order". There would be no reasonable way to separate legit sold orders from bogus ones.

Confirmation on the warmer climates, I live in sunny Arizona and there is 1, count it 1 2005 Mustang GT on a dealer lot. It's being sold for $3,500 over MSRP as well.

You know, we'll all look back on this in 2055, when we are sitting in our rocking chairs holding our great grandchildren thinking "I remember back in early 2005 when there was no hope of ever receiving our Mustangs, but now that I have an actual build date for mine, I actually feel confident that I will get to see my car before I die".

Funny the dealership nearest me had a V6 that lasted like 4 days & yet they have a GT thet they have had for over a month.

The V6 was a:
Black deluxe with DC cloth, auto, IUP, & ESP

the GT is a:
Red ( not sure which)w/ DC Leather, Auto, & Shaker 1000
for 29,000

Anyway. Goodluck with you car. Maybe Ford will get their act together soon.

Sure there is. Ford would require a copy of the signed check for a minimm deposit, or credit card receipt, etc from the customer. If their regional rep found a dealer fabricating anything the dealer would get penalized. Where there's a will there's a way. Ford could put someone in charge to follow up. Sure it's an extra step, but worth it for customer satisfaction IMO.

If your somewhat flexable on choice come down to Detroit area and pick one off the lots. A or X plan excepted. Just do not go to Jerome-Duncan Ford.

I hear ya! I ordered from Brown Motors in Petoskey on 11/23/04 and as of 1/26/05 still "clean and unscheduled." They haven't gotten a single GT in yet. I've searched online virtually all the Ford dealerships in Michigan to see if I could find what I ordered in stock but haven't found one yet. I ordered it with X-plan. I thought I was ordering early to make sure it was here by the end of March. I was told it takes about 10 weeks when I first ordered. Very frustrating!

It's amazing, but I've yet to see a single GT on the road either! Granted the weather is pretty horrible right now in southeastern CT, but believe me, my eyes are constantly peeled looking for them...

The dealer I ordered from has a black GT in stock now, with $3K markup over MSRP. He has sold one other GT, also at a markup. Several dealers in my area have not gotten a single GT yet.

The GTs truly are scarce right now, and my salesman told me today that Ford still seems to be pumping out more V6 models than GTs, despite the backlog of GT orders!

Yeah, I've seen a V6 at the beginning of September here in West Michigan and finally we have a white GT at our dealer with IUP. It's good to see our dealer finally getting a share of the GT's, not the V6's, even though I respect both.

I believe Villa Ford supplies Cars to SALEEN for conversion that is why they show so many on the locator! They should be spoiler delete cars.

Greetings,

We ordered our GT from our preferred dealer (MSRP) in Windveil Blue
w/parchment, but had not seen that color yet on a "real-life" 05 Mustang.

After using the FordDirect "inventory search" for other dealers close to
us, we then went to look at a V6 to check out the WB/Parch color combo.
(Confirmed our choice!)

We saw two GT's there that do not appear in that dealer's on-line inventory
(even days later). Both were marked-up $4000 above MSRP!

Do dealers have control over which cars are listed in the on-line inventory?

If so, why would a dealer intentionaly not list a car?
