San Diego to Panama City Florida
I said good by to California this morning, for how long? I don't know. Here's some pics so far of today's leg of the journey(I8 to I10). It starts in Carlsbad - the first pic was taken last weekend. The other 4 are of I8 almost to the AZ border. I wanted to stop where I8 crosses 4000 feet then drops down to below sea level but you can see the weather was bad. Hope you enjoy

More AZ and into NM. Finish today just outside Deming NM. 600 +/- miles today - I'm in no hurry.
The Steeda Tri Ax has only been in a week and it feels like it's grinding when going to first - like there's no lube in the ball joint....

Your pics bring back some memories for me. I drove that same route (all the way to Jacksonville) years ago in an '84 Mercury Topaz 4-banger. I called it the "toe-spaz" because when you hit the gas not much happened. Driving a GT, I suspect you're having a little more fun than I did on that run.
As the big rigs say, keep the shiny side up and have a safe trip!

And more across Texas - rolling hills and some windmills
3) Looking for some old fort (Lancaster?) near Sheffield
4) Some old fort (what's left of it) near Sheffield
5) "Scenic View" about 2 hours east of San Antonio
Not a lot of photos today, about 12 hours of rolling hills.... Wind was hellacious, hit another school of butterflies - much messier at 90 mph...

I originally had planned to spend a day in New Orleans (how bad could it be???) but listening to the radio all day and the shootings they recently had caused me to worry about something happening to my car while I was there (I've got my priorities!) so I cancelled and decided to push through to P.C.
Sorry I didn't update these the same day they were taken, I haven't had internet access since I got here.....
1) a glance at Houston
2) Houston in my rear view (BTW, those are "Beer Refinery Stacks" in the background. Little known fact - Budweiser and Coors are pumped up from the ground here, undergo refinery and processing, and then are shipped out all over the world)
3) Welcome to Louisianna
4) Louisianna Beer Refinery
5) BAYOU!

1) USS Alabama, I think she matches well
2) More Alabama
3) More Alabama
4) even more Alabama - it's pretty remarkable that if you look all you see are barrels. I guess that was the philosophy back then - wherever there's an open space, mount a gun - artillery, anti-air, or machine, the more the better. If anyone has been on a modern Navy ship then you'll appreciate what I'm getting at. Google LHA(pelleliu, belleauwood - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Bel...od_%28LHA-3%29 scroll down to armament on the right hand side and see how many weapons there are).
5) SR 98 in Destin Fla. I'm smoked and still have 60 miles to go - the last are the WORST!
I'll post some more pics of good old Panama City. Part of my delay in updating this is it's not the City it used to be - unbelievable! Like Vegas on the water - sort of. Last time I was here was ten years ago.
Thanks to the "well wishers" hope some of you enjoyed the 2000 miles in three days.
