Saleen heritage rear bumper problems

I finally got the chance to get it painted and have them mount it, and it just doesn't sit right and line up on the rest of the car. Has anyone else had this problem? I plan to take it back to the shop and hope they'll fix it for free or cheap, and I've already talked to the shop owner. Hope these pictures help a little in diagnosing the problem

My brother used to have an '05 Saleen S281 and I'll admit, gorgeous from a few feet back, but the body panels never seemed to align right from the factory... Now they weren't that off, but off enough to be noticeable.

I also have the Heritage rear bumper, but haven't installed it yet. Am doing that next month to prep it for getting painted.

I did a quick search on images, and I see that almost all of the heritage rear bumpers are slightly off next to the lower corners of the taillight. although I've not seen one off like yours above the right side reflector.

Here are a few pots for reference:

If you really look at the straight on rear shots, you'll see that they are all slightly off at the lower corners of the taillights.

All of that can be adjusted. I would recommend refitting the bumper in the evening when thermal growth is low.

That's the nature of urethane.

So I finally installed my Heritage Rear bumper this weekend. It's still raw urethane, still needs to be painted... goes into the shop in a month.

Anyway, I was very careful to look for this particular problem that you noted. When I first had teh bumper up and secure (without securing the bolts inside the trunk), the bumper looked like it sit pretty flush near the corners of the taillights. I also had no problems above either of the side reflectors.

After tightening down the bolts inside the trunk (4 of them), I finished reinstalling the wheels and lowering the car down. Started cleaning up and after about 30 minutes of not paying much attention to the car, I looked at it and I had the same problem as you described. The corners near the lower corners of the taillight were bowing outward away from the body.

I went into the trunk and backed off each of the nuts a few turns... the bumper still sits flush next to the trunk opening, and easing off that pressure eased off the pressure which was pulling the corners inward, and causing it to bow outwards. Fits much better now.

I'll try and grab a few close up photos to show.

As for the piece above the right reflector, i'm guessing that one of the 3 retainers just isn't sitting right. I'd recommend goign through part of the bumper cover removal, enough to release those side retainer clips and reinstall. That might fix the problem.
