Saleen 302 crate engines.
Saleen 302 crate engines.
I did a search, and came up with no posts on this topic.

Stage3 is selling two versions. One version for an S/C, and one version for without. Both versions come with a complete forged shortblock, so I think the only difference is the compression.

I think there was a topic in the Special Editions section under Saleen. You may have to adjust the time frame for past posts (think its set for last 30 days. Change it to last year and it should be there, I think).
Thanks for the link. WOW is that pricey for the longblock! For that money, you can buy the 5.0L Cammer V8. Now, granted, its not emissions legal, but for those who won't get tested, who cares? Its a darn race motor, from the cars in the old Grand Am (now Koni) race series.

I think I would stick with the Aluminator. I need to stay emisions legal.
Call me ignorant, but can someone with more knowledge explain to me a few things.
1. What is the difference between the long and short blocks motor wise... ie. Why twice the price?
2. Which is in the PJ, the long or the short?
3. If you purchased the short in either form would your heads, manifolds, pcm, other components etc be used from the stock 3V?
4. Why 2 different short blocks if both internals are forged and the same price why would one not go with the S/C version off the bat, could you not run that block in a N/A form?
Sorry for the questions but I am interested in this setup and for some reason I trust a TMSer's opinions

2. Probably the long. Again, the longblock is essentially a nearly complete engine.
3. I would assume so. Essentially, its our engine, just with more displacement. Its the standard 3V built around a 302 displacement. You might want to call Saleen on this.
4. More than likely different compression pistons. The S/C one probably contains lower compression pistons suitable for higher boost while the non-S/C version has high compression pistons, that won't work well with high boost.
Hope this helps.
