Rust on rotors
Rust on rotors
I have a desent amount of rust on my stock rotors. I called the dealership and they told me this was normal and suggested that I should get drilled aftermarket rotors to avoid it. Does this sound right?
Very normal. Doesn't take long to form either. It's gone after the first push on the pedal, unless maybe your car sits out for long periods of time. Unless you're so **** that you want to dry them off after driving it in the rain you'll have to live with it. You could not drive it when it's raining but telling someone in Florida not to drive in the rain is just about as bad as someone telling me not too here in the Seattle area, LOL. Don't sweat it.
Slotted and drilled wont help. It'll actualy cause rust where the brake pads wont be able to clean off. In this situation I've heard some poeple have painted the slotted/drilled rotors with a high temp paint which fills the holes and slotted-ness and the rest of the paint is just "braked" off.
Haha made a few words up there. Hope that makes some sense?

Some of the guys with the RotorPros slotted and drilled had signs of rust showing. Zinc plated also. Oh well, when I get my rotors I'll try that high temp paint solution.
Thanks everyone, as least I feel better.
Didn't know if that would hurt the judging at a car show. I'm registered for the show during mustang week in Myrtle Beach.
