I was looking aroud in the engine compartment on my V6 and saw a red rubber band tied aroud a cable harness just in front on the firewall on the passenger side. The other end was looped around something at the rear of the engine but couldn't see what.Anyway my daugter brought he car over yesterday to finish up the fog light install and she had a red rubber band in the same exact spot on her car.Has any other V6 owner seen this rubber band, sure hope it isn't critical to hold the wiring in place.

Rubber band in the V-6 engine compartment. Oh boy... can I imagine the jokes that could come of this! Please tell me you didn't find any hamsters???

Oh and by the way, I don't specifically recall seeing one in my car. I'll take a look later and see what I can find.

My 05 GT had one too so its not only the V6's. Thought that it was weird though.

I was thinking about swapping my rubber band that came with my V6 for one from a GT. Any idea what kind of performance increase I might expect?

Yeah, I think Motor Trend did an article on this. They kept referring to a "power band," but I thought they were referring to horsepower output! Silly me.

Are you taking it to a shop, like Staples of Office Depot or are you qualified to do it yourself? I think it could be tricky getting the O.E. band off so be careful and don't forget to post some pics!

I'm replacing mine with the rubber band from my kids slingshot. Talk about torque.

I say we all take our rubberbands off (kinda like the HC trap) and get them all together to make a huge rubberband ball.

I'm waiting for all the dust to settle on this one. I want to let the aftermarket get the kinks worked out before I go and change out my rubber band. I'm just hoping the come out with a billet model. Dress it up a little! I think you'll definately have to have a tune to keep from getting the CEL. I may get a custom tune once the next generation comes out.

Ha ha, then in National Lampoon's Vacation 8 or whatever they are up to, the Griswald's can take a trip to visit it. "Ellen, what do you say about shooting down to Louisiana to see the World's Largest Rubber Band Ball?"
