Was out at the Autobahn country club in Joliet, Il today
Was an all day event that ended up raining most of the time.
But rain or shine we race!

3.5 mile 21 turn road course with all sorts of cars.

I had a freaking blast.
Did some experimenting with a camera and headrest with some tie straps.
Worked pretty well. Autobahn1.avi the cam started to point down after a bit.
Only a minute or so of not the best view until I noticed and fixed.

Sorry for the music, played a song that had some swear words.
Even more sorry about the 2nd song that played in the Autobahn2.avi.
I was zoned and didn't realize it was still playing.

240 for the event which was:
6 sessions, 20 minutes long, rotating with 3 groups. And a nice lunch.

There is no passing in the corners, and passes require a wave bye.
2 wheels off the course is considered an out, and you get black flagged and must go to the pits.
But they let you back out after making sure all is good.
2nd time your done for that session.
3rd time you go home.


I didn't touch the grass once
had a few close calls tho. Seen the guy behind be spin out.
Some guy smashed the rear end of his Lotus Elise, oops!
He went home on a tow truck.
There were tons of nice cars out there. I probably had one of the cheapest ones, lol.
A very nice facility and course.

For me top speeds were about 110 when dry, 95 in the wet, mostly 2nd & 3rd gear.

So if you have nothing to do for the next 45 min or so take a look and test out my

Wanted to update this since people were having problems viewing the videos

"Well I uploaded them to youtube because some people could not view them.
I had to split the in car videos in 2 because youtube only allows 9 minute videos.

3.5 mile 21 turn road course. Im in the beginner group, only my 2nd time running.
It rained most of the day too. Didn’t stop me!

Man, I wish that wasn't such a long drive for me, I'd be all over it. Looks like a great course.

Thanks. I didn't mind the rain, it made for a different experience on how the car handles. Half day of rain would have been better.
The car was pretty predictable when braking loose.

Looks like fun fun isn't it real expensive? Like $25K to join and $2500.00 a yr?

 

Yeah, something crazy like that. I get in with a group that rents the track for a day. Runs about 250 for the day.

 

Very nice. Never been on a road course in the rain. Thatt must have been fun. I bet it increases the pucker quite a bit.

 

do you have the steeda street or race hood? if its the race did much water get under the hood?

Its the steeda street, only has one opening vs the race which has 2. And no rain is gettin in there.
