The Ride Home
Well I picked up my GT yesterday and I took the LONG way home (especially since I only live a mile from the dealer and it took me a couple of hours), had to cruise the coast and just get to know the car a bit. I love it. The reviews from passers by were all good, lots of smiles, thumbs up and "nice car, congratulations." The camero people were the funniest. I caught one almost break his neck as he passed me when I was turning on to the same street he was on and when I caught up and pulled up on his drivers side (both our windows down) at the light he wouldnt even glance at the car as if he never saw it, I guess he felt ashamed checking out a Ford. Another camero I pulled up to at a stop sign, I looked over and gave him a friendly nod hello and I think he might have interpreted that as "Do you want to race?" because he got a look of panic on his face and shook his head no vigorously and waved his hands like a referee does when a pass is incomplete. So I just shrugged it off and pulled away slowly and he sat at the stop. It seems as if Camero owners all seem to tuck tail and run when they see the car coming as if they dont want to acknowledge its existance, deal with it boys, Ford is given you your run for your money. But the overall experience was a great one, people seem to love the car almost as much as I do, and I live in an area where the average car costs probably around $80-100 grand and they couldnt get enough. At work I parked my car right out front (I bartend at a Sushi place) and it didnt take long to draw a crowd around the car, not a single person coming in didnt stop to check it out and come in talking about it. Well just wanted to share my first personal experience with the new stang I hope you all can have a similar one and the horror stories of cars being crashed or scratched or not working are few and far between. Take care.
Not a Camaro owner, but you make it sound like they're actually scared -- remember, they've been enjoying FAR more horsepower than Mustang GT owners have for quite a few years! Even now, Ford STILL has not really beaten their HP ratings, just matched them.
Theory of evolution dictates the next Camaro will kick Mustang GT's ascot and it will be you -- the GT -- owner, who won't want to look at their car. :P
On that positive note, congrats on the new Stang! STILL waiting for my "ride home" in much envy

I posted pics before I took the car home, shots from when it first came out of PDI here http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=11263 will post more because these are shots of the car before the detail, but I am relying on the old school cameras where film is actually used, my digital was stolen a few months ago.

ENJOY, but I don't really need to tell you that.
