Reno Mustang 911

Hey there guys/gals just throwing this out there for those interested.
The new "Reno 911 Miami" movie has
Mustang police cars. They look like V6 stangs.
It also looks like they take a pretty good beating in the movie .
Here is the trailer for it and if you can watch it all wait till the end where a stang gets blown away (CG I am sure) by a helicopter.

The TV show is funny, I don't know if I could sit through the movie though.

Some look like V6's but the one that got T-boned had a GT front bumper on it.

Yeah, I've seen the commercials for it for awhile now. Typical for movies: always wreck the nice cars....a la 2 Fast 2 Furious. Why couldn't they destroy the rice Eclipse. No, instead they destroy two nice muscle cars, a nice BMW, a nice corvette, a nice Viper, and a nice Saleen.

And the wrecked Viper in Tokyo drift. and the wrecked Charger in F&F 1.

I hate when they destroy cars just to destroy them. I'm glad to see that they can just throw that money out. What about the person saying, "Well it would have been nice to have that GT bumper instead of them just wrecking it"

Or, on that show on Speed TV, where they crashed a GT500 through the window for a movie, and damaged the front clip. I would have been more than happy to have that front end, vs them just wrecking it. And it's even worse when they do it to old cars in which parts are scarce. That part could have gone to a deserving buyer. Instead, it's just destroyed.

thats what makes me the angriest... they think of it just as a car. but if you were making a movie where you needed to burn a picasso, chances are you wouldnt use the real thing. a lot like destroying a nice classic car IMO

For 2 fast 2 furious the saleen that gets crushed by the semi was built with a saleen body kit and a junk yard 2001 v6 mustang body. My bro's friend did some research for getting the parts together, The real saleen used was not harmed. I'm sure those stangs were similar to the 2f2f saleen.

Also note Mass and CT state police have stang GT'S with some hefty enhancements, including cai's and superchargers! Be careful who you go tearin by.

I had read something about that too.

But, if further explains one of my points: I would have been more than happy to have some saleen body parts (my car was even laser red too), rather than them just junk them by wrecking the car.

Those C-pillar panels are EXTREMELY hard to come by, and now there is one less set due to them wrecking the car for no reason.

yeah but, apparently some how they only used one side of the fake saleen to film the collision i guess the other side was messed up and they didnt have time to fix it, and the real saleen was rented by a dealership for 7g's for a week, thats like a grand a day

I think Ford nailed it with the II's sheetmetal design. Unfortunately, for various reasons there were misses just about everywhere else.

I've always thought the Fox platform was an abomination.

Reminds me of the old Barnaby Jones and Cannon series where every week the bad guys would get chased in their new '76 Lincoln, lose control, and they'd cut to the same darn footage of a '61 with suicide doors exploding going into the ravine.

Them's fightin words! LOL

But I agree that the Mustang II is highly underappreciated. I'd love to restore one, and throw the biggest engine I could fit under the hood...

Back on track don't forget all the stangs destoryed to do testing to keep everyone safe.

I was at school when an 05 stang GT was driven by a 16 year old who took the car out when his parents went out for the night. He had 5 friends in the car and was going down a hill at about 95-110 according to the cops, he hit an f-350 which spun around and hit a pole nocking it down. Althought totalled all the stangs passangers were ok, except for the driver who was arrested for having passengers other family before the age of 18, and the girl who tryed to run away with weed. My friends on the FD thought it was me since I had the only new stang they knew of. If that was my kid I'd be in jail.

To the movies they are just props. For one vehicle you see in a movie there are usually a few doubles. Some are on rigs and cutup just for certain camera shots. Watch behind the scenes of the dukes of hazzard movie and you'll see what I mean.
