After waiting 3 months for my 2006 Vista Blue to arrive, and driving it for a mere 6 weeks (putting only 600 miles on it) I get rear ended on my way to work ?!? I was sitting in a turning lane, some hineyclown came up behind me - hit me straight on. I was so enraged, I didn't know what to do. My rear is dented, cracked, and terribly scratched. I can't even bring myself to look at it (again). He was *kind* enough to get the claim rolling right away with his insurance company. They recommended a body shop at a Lincoln/Mercury dealer - while the dealer I purchased the car from has it's own body shop right down the road.... Any recommendations on the best place to have the repairs done? Location: Montgomery County, Maryland.

I was rear-ended in new jersey and in that case the insurance company said I could take it anywhere I wanted. My dealer gave me a quote which I sent to the insurance company and they cut me a check. I would assume as long as the cost is reasonable they won't care where you take it.

Is the bumper cover the only thing that is damaged? If so, you just need a new cover. If you don't want your FORD body shop doing the work, find a good reputable shop to do the work.

Same thing happened to me back in April and I took it to a body shop I trusted. My experiance is that if you use the shop the Ins. company recommend's that the work may not be up to snuff. With me, the other ins. company agreed to pay the cost in full as well as my Deductible. Cost for repair's was about $3,000 for part's and labor for a new rear bumper and $500 for my deductible. Took about a month start to finish to get everything cleared up!! Hope you get back on the road soon!

I was hit yesterday on the Garden State Parkway heading north right by exit 136. for some reason there were a couple of cars in front of me stopped so I naturally stopped, the two cars behind me stopped, but the third car behind us was not paying attention and rear ended the two cars behind me, these two cars in turn hit me. This guy must have been driving so fast, he made the person directly behind me, hit and completely destroy the right side of my rear bumper and made the person spin sideways into the passenger side of my car. Now my whole rear bumper on the right side is destroyed and most of the passenger side is crashed and crumpled, the trunk closes but is not aligned correctly. I am certainly heart broken as the car only has 3000 miles and is only 3 months old. So I feel your pain. I am currently waiting for the guy from the insurance to come look at my car. The insurance person said I could take it anywhere I wanted, so I figured who better than the dealer to take care of the car, but now I am having second thoughts and thinking of going with a shop I have been using for a while.

Oh well, hang in there, I am now Pony-Less and it sucks :bang: :bang: :bang:

Man are there targets on the back of these mustangs or something?

I had mine for two months, when someone slammed into the car behind me and pushed them into me. Driver muffler was hanging on the ground, trunk floor was crumpled in, rear bumper cracked and side panel dented out. $5200 dollars and two months later I finally got my car back. I ended up taking it to a Ford dealer close to my house.

Feel yall's pain, and hope for a speedy and perfect recovery.
