I glanced at the thread and first thought it said "beer and wine".

I had a whine in my positraction, turned out to be a recall issue. You may want to contact your local dealer.

Mine whined. Turned out it needed a complete rebuild. Wasn't going to be cheap.

When they do a rebuild, they might have to replace the ring & pinion. Mine developed a whine from 20k miles on it and then around 60k it developed a bad moan and I had it rebuilt. The dealer replaced bearings, clutch pack, etc but put the original gears back in. The whine was still there, as the gears had worn in a bad pattern. I upgraded to 3.73's last year (took it to a great shop), and its dead silent again like new. You have to be real careful about who installs your gears, otherwise the new ring/pinion can develop the same type of bad wear pattern.

I'm not an expert on this subject, just basing this off my own experience, what I'd read, and what I learned by asking around to different shops. Some were clueless, some knew exactly what they were talking about.

Improper pinion depth setting which sets the gear pattern and bearing preload or gear damage will produce typical gear howling or whine.

I've got the same symptoms, taking it back to the shop again. I hope they can fix it...
I don't mind a little bit of whine but when I turn right at low speed you can hear the gears bad. More than a whine. When I turn left its fine.
Hopefully the gears aren't damaged.
