Is This Really To Be The Next Mustang SE...?

2009 Mustang James Bond edition.

"Diamonds are forever...

...forever

...forever

Diamonds are forevuhhhhhhh..."

I wonder if it comes with a Jill St. John blow up doll?

I hope not, there's almost too many versions to even keep up with.

Ford should just stop messing around and focus (pun intended!) on selling more cars in the US. How is a Bond Mustang helping anything?

...but another question is more important: is James going to kick the lieutenant's behind or will he just sport a better-looking outfit?

The only official Ford special editions (limited run)are:
  1. Bullitt
  2. GT500
  3. Shelby GT
  4. Hertz Shelby
The GT-CS is not a limited run car, but more of a trim package, so that doesn't count.

The rest are by aftermarket "tuners" (including the GT500KR, a "tuned" GT500). But that shows how much interest there is in the Mustang by third parties and shows the potential it has as a platform for building higher performance. Where are all the tuner special edition Camrys?

Here it comes...here it comes...the 19th breakdown

It will be just my luck... the 2009 Mach 1...

...will be a standard S197 GT with custom hood blackout, special CAI and tune, will have louvers and a retro styled rear wing, Mach 1 logo stripes, and honeycomb rear blackout...

...And will be their biggest seller to date...

And here I am trying to be unique...

Ford wouldn't do a Mach1 or BOSS unless it had something else under the hood....

Uh oh, don't let some of the Cal Special guys hear you say that, some get upset even if they see other Mustangs have the stripes..Oh Brother.... But your right it is just a very nice option trim package.

The GT/CS production was also limited, and technically, the Bullitt is a package option for the GT, even though limited to the Premium coupe. Bullitt like the GT/CS does nhot have it's own Order Guide.

+1

The 5.8/6.2 BOSS V8s are coming out soon for the 2009 F-series and the 2010 Mustang GT. I heard rumors the 2009 Special Edition Stang will get the 5.8L BOSS V8. The first BOSS engines are supposed to be 2V SOHC V8s. They will eventually make 4V DOHC V8s with direct fuel injection.

From whats been heard/posted:

Boss/Mach1 will probably be 5.4 3v or 4v
2010 Mustang GT won't have BOSS of 5.8/6.2
2011 is when the BOSS's would be ready for the M-GT
but sounds like the 5.0 is probably going to bow into the GT
as well as in the future probably a TwinForce either in teh GT, <middlev8> or GT500 kind of car.
6.2 BOSS was relegated to truck only at the time, 5.8 seems to have been canned.

Thanks Boomer. That sounds interesting... I may wait for the 2011 model GT. I don't like buying special edition Stangs because of the ADM's.

I wonder why they give the F-series the bigger engines. It's like the Mustang is relegated to getting the hand-me-downs from the F-series.

I hope the Mustang GT's BOSS V8 will be a 4V DOHC with direct fuel injection. There is no reason to stick with MPFI other than cost. Direct injection allows for higher compression using 87 octane, resulting in more precisely meter fuel, higher performance, and better gas mileage.

I didn't realize Mach 1's had that much chrome on them.

The picture in that article really makes the car look dorky. All the Mach1's from that period of time that I've seen were blacked out except for the rear bumper.

+1 The Bullitt is in the same class as the California Special, just limited colors available and some dress up options.

The Bullitt is package 54B for Job 2 2008 Mustang GTs, so yeah it's basically a package but it is special to some people!
