They're going to make about 180,000 2005 Mustangs. Don't believe his crap, and don't go back to them.

20 down? no way buddy. most of us who have pre-ordered put 500.00 down and are getting the vehicle for a pre-arranged price. (ie. 500.00 over dealer invoice etc.) Under no circumstances should you pay over msrp. Go find another dealer, and be sure to let this bozo see you bought from someone else.

Amen! What Brad said. There are too many Ford dealerships out there to put up with the bad ones. :nono: Find a good one even if you have to drive some distance, and stick with them! Also, an informed customer will often be treated with more respect, which is sad, but this site will help!

Seems unbelieveable a dealer in this day and age would say that about a mustang....Only a few built! Anyway like everyone else said...move on B)
BTW Look up at the heading at top of forums under pictures....Ther are zillions of them!

It's funny. I took pictures with me when I ordered my car to make sure I got what I wanted. The dealer couldn't identify half the options in the pictures (good thing I had the order guide highlighted with me)... He tried to tell me about a couple little details that were in the pictures like I'd never seen them before. Plus he didn't know which wheels I was getting based on the order guide... He also doesn't know that he told me "Around $26,000" so that's my target

Edit: I put a $400 deposit on mine.

Find a new dealer. If the demand is there Ford has already made plans to go to 2 x 10 hour shifts and build up to 195,000 of them per year. The current build plan is to build 44,000 '05 Stangs starting tomorrow (Job 1) through Dec 31. That's an average of 12 Stangs per dealer through the end of the year.

The deal with the allocation of 2 Mustangs is that initially ALL small dealers can get 2 x 05 Stangs and ALL large dealers can get 3 x 05 Mustangs. They can't get any more until they sell one (or all) of their first 2 (or 3) cars. The reason for this is so ALL Ford dealers can have 05 Mustangs in their showrooms as soon as possible. It's amazing that many of the dealers don't seem to understand this.

It is up to the dealer whether he will sell at X plan or not. But if that dealer is being an a##hole and trying to charge too much so they don't sell their 2 Mustangs they won't get any more. You can go elsewhere, their loss, not yours. By January there will be plenty 05 Stangs at dealers.

Spend some time on this site and you'll know way more than your dealer, unless the sales rep is a member here. I don't know where you live, but I'd thinking about hooking up with one of them. Do some internet shopping before you talk to any dealer again.

Dealers have NO idea what is going on. All they want is to sell something to you. Just wait a month and when they start showing up on the lots, then you will see.
