Question on wheels

All,

So, I've been looking at possibly getting some new shoes for the Stang in the spring and have always liked the VMR V710's, but it's my understanding they don't make a wheel that fits our S197's.

VMR V710s

So, when searching for wheels the other day, I came across a couple other mesh style wheels I hadn't seen before and was wondering what anyone knew about them. For instance, build quality, a good fit for our S197's, clearance for big brakes, etc. The two I was looking at were the following:

BE by Breyton GTS-AV

Bremmer Kraft BR05

Note, I've also considered some other wheels, including the RTR's or Shelby Razors, but I'm leaning towards silver mesh wheels for my black stang....although I like blackout look too. Thoughts? I also was looking for 19" wheels as so far, I think that size looks to be about ideal for the S197 IMO.

Fitment is all about the size and offset. Talk to VMR about custom sets, or what sizes they have in 18 and 19's. There was a thread about wheel sizes/fitment somewhere...probably page 2 or 3 that members were discussing what you're asking about.

*Edit*
Here it is...

05 Black GT

After 5 years with a bone stock 05 Black GT, I also want to get a cool set of rims . . . . after having a some problems with a used 01 Bullitt with rubbing/clunking caused by wrong sized wheels . . . . I am nervious out stepping upto a 19 wheel on my 05! You seem to have similar taste to me . . . so I will follow you! Please keep us updated with pictures of your updated ride! Go Blue! (97 grad here).

Thanks Antigini. Looks like the info is available, I just need to do a little more research on each of the specific wheels.

Hey Leonard...Go Blue! I'm a '97 grad as well and actually have both a S197 and SN95 stang too. Too funny. I guess great minds think alike.

These seem to be very similar in design, to the ones pictured in your post. They are 18" and require 5/8 lug bolts in the hub.

FRPP has a few others you might want to look at, if you go to their wheel webpage.

All, just as a quick update. I talked to the guys at Avant Garde (Also make the same style wheel as the V710) about their wheels and they said I could have a set of the Audi ones redrilled to fit the Mustang. It sounded from them that this shouldn't cause any issues, going from a 5X112 to a 5X114.3. They weren't as sure about going a BMW set going from the 5X120 to the 5X114.3 and instead directed me to a company that does the re-drilling to get their insights. Anyone else have any insights into if re-drilling would compromise the integrity of the wheel? I really like these wheels, but don't want to customize them to the point that integrity is impacted. Thoughts?

This is a forged rim wheel from TSW. Really looks like they got their game on with this wheel. 24lbs for 20"x9.5" and 25lb for 20"x10.5". And they make them with the right offset and bolt pattern for Mustangs and they fit over Brembos.

908ssp, thanks, those are definitely some nice wheels. The only thing keeping me from going with the TSW's is because I was leaning towards a silver wheel and the TSW's don't come in silver. The closest they have is a mirror finish w/gun metal, but I'm not sure I'd want that combo. Not that it's bad, I just think I prefer all silver. If I inevitably can't find a silver that works, I'd probably go with the gun metal TSW's or the dark charcoal RTR's. I'm going to try a few more places though to see if I can get the VMR's or Avant Garde's to fit a Mustang. Of course, I'd definitely want them to be able to clear a Big Brake kit as well, just in case. From what I could tell, it doesn't sound like the Breyton's or Bremmer Kraft's above would.

Bremmer Kraft BR05 is beautiful. Wish they came in 9" or 9.5" all around. Would love to run 275's on all four corners. ****.

You might consider having the TSW powder coated. I know it adds a lot to the cost but even with the added cost it might be worth it. After all the size, offset and weight are hard enough to get right.

That's a good point and would even allow me to start with gunmetal, see if it grows on me and if not, powder coat them silver. Hmm, another option is on the table. Thanks 908ssp.
