I was told when I ordered 9 weeks ago that all ordered units were put in front of lot units. This week, the dealership got two GT coupes on the lot. Should I be mad? I think I should, but I want to make sure I am not missing something before I email the sales manager. By the way, I am still C/U.

Do you know for sure when they were ordered?

They probably just gave the GT's priority 10 and yours something higher.

Well, I don't know when they were ordered, but they told me that all ordered units were given a higher priority than lot units. Which, if that is the case, would it matter when they were ordered? If, as they claim, all ordered units are placed in front, even if the lot units were already ordered, they could and should place the ordered units at a higher priority.

Your order may have gotten priority over the coming orders not one in the queue already. Maybe those were in the queue for a while, or maybe they lied. What priority does your DORA say?

Maybe ask them to fax you another copy of your DORA and see what the current priority number is.

I would also note that you said they got two GT Coupes, not Vert's on the lot. Your signature indicates you ordered a Vert. Last time Karpro posted commodities I believe Verts are at 38%. So I'm guessing your dealer gets 1 GT Vert per cycle.

I'd ask the dealer how many GT Vert's are ahead of you in the order que.

Hopefully there is a good explaination. Maybe they were part of a swap with another dealer for some vehicles the other dealer needed. Or special orders that were cancelled. Or lot orders that were locked into production (too late to change) by the time you ordered yours.

But yes, I think they have some 'splainin to do. Keep us posted!

My current priority is 12. I went ahead and shot the General Manager of the dealership an email. It was not mean, just asking for explanation. Hopefully I will get a reponse soon. What is the worst that can happen?...not getting my car?

Sorry if this is obvious to everyone but a higher # is lower priority you realise. A prioity of 10 is best and the lowest # a dealer can assign. A prioirty of 20 is higher in number but not better as far as getting your order picked and scheduled. I find it better to talk to my dealer not in term of higher and lower but hard priority numbers.

It also could be that commodities such as the IUP held up your order while their lot order, without IUP, were selected. But that consumes their allocation and so you wait and wait.

I just had this discussion with my dealer. They have allocation, I am at priority 10, and all other mustang orders are 'behind' mine in priority.

Note: My dealer also did say that they will NOT put multiple orders at the same priority as this causes neither to get picked. He said he felt this it was some kind of 'bug'. I don't know about that , but in any case if you are the only 10 priority order , and they have allocation for a week (which they know), the only thing that can stop your order is commodities - which the dealer does not control. Clear as mud?

Did I get that right everyone?

Yes, we all know how priority numbers work.

I forgot you ordered a convertible. That changes everything. IWantMyNewGT is correct, there are less convertibles being made.

Admittedly, but the commodities for verts have been fairly high lately. Plus, these two cars they got in have IUP, so it is not like they are going for the easy to get ones. While I admit the convertibles eventually will be less common, currently, I think they are as being pulled as much, if not more so, than coupes. And don't forget, they got TWO GTs for the lot since my order (in the last couple of days), so we are talking about 2 coupes before my vert.

They could have bought the coupes from a broker or another dealer. I know that there are several dealerships around here that are doing that. The biggest dealer in our area will buy them from dealers up north or what not. The catch is that the dealer from up north will tell them that they have to buy all of their 04 stangs as well if they want the 05s. Sunset in St. Louis has done this many times. They are having a mustang extravaganza today. They have 4 vert V6s, 1 vert GT, 6 GTs, and about 15 V6s and then they have 30 2004 mustangs to go with that.

Actually Stadifer mentioned it, but I'll take the credit.

Yes, lots of people on this site know how priority numbers work. I would bet there are a few newbies who will read that and learn something though.

Doh! I had that one nailed too.

As long as someone got it and understood it life is good.

Tim - You said your priority was 12 - I'd ask why your not at 10 and what is ahead of you? - and why.
