Question about leather on seats...

There seems to be like a leather flap that secures the leather to the seat. It seems to be attached from the middle of the very front of the seat. I know people have reported it happening to as I've seen the posts on here.

My question is: To those who took it to your dealer, did they do anything to fix it? It seems to have a piece it connects to the bottom of the seat too...but have they devised a permanent fix yet so that flap doesn't come loose?

what my dealer did was drill 2 holes through the plastic holder. Then used plastic cable ties through the holes and tied the plastic to the metal part of the seat. Sure, mine never falls down now, but not my idea of a proper fix. They said if FORD comes out with a proper solution they will fix it at that time.

This is timely, I just posted a question about this on another forum. I just noticed mine hanging loose when I vacuumed a few days ago. I snapped them back on, but it sounds like I can expect them to come off again.

Check the front edge of your seat upholstery (front seats). There's a plastic clip that is supposed to be snapped onto the metal frame of the seat. Apparently this plastic clip doesn't stay clipped for long.

My flap is hanging also, only on the drivers seat not the passengers. It seems as if it could snap into place, but I'ver tried everything t get it to snap into place and cannot get it to. It's very frustrating :bang::bang::bang:.

I was able to get both of mine snapped back on, it's tricky because you have to do it by feel. For me it was easiest to start at one side and get it started, then push the rest on. The clip has to be rolled under so that it's pointing upwards to snap onto the metal edge under the seat. I just snapped them on a few days ago and they're still holding, but it sounds like they'll probably come off again based on what others have said.

I noticed the same problem on my seats (ICAP) shortly after getting the car in March. During my first trip to the dealer for initial oil change, I asked them to fix it. They did, but a few weeks later now, it's loose again.
So this looks like something that needs Ford factory attention because manually manipulating it back in place - which is possible, although not easy - doesn't seem to permanently fix the seat.

For those of you that just popped it back in, it will fall off again. The issue is the leather stretches after a little while and as gravity would have it, the plastic clip will just fall off. Mine was too the point that you could snap it in, count to 30 and it would be off again without even sitting in the seat. All of you should tell FORD about it. That is the only way they will get a TSB out on the issue. I just hope they don't think cable ties would be the fix. I think they need a different design where the plastic piece wraps around and is snapped into place from the top of the metal bracket instead of the bottom. It would never ever fall off or come loose that way.

I've got to say, I have been very disappointed at the way everything is fastened on the new stangs. When I installed the sequential taillights kit, all the trunk panels are held in place loosely with those goofy christmas tree fasteners. When I put the stars-and-stripes pony on, the grille snaps into place, the grille shroud is held on with plastic button fasteners and the emblem itself is plastic and held in place with non-removable compression fittings. No way to get them off without breaking the plastic pins on the back of the emblem. Last night I installed leather boots on the shifter & brake. The existing brake boot is shoved onto plastic pins molded into the console, and then those plastic pins are melted to hold it into place! I know they were trying to keep the price down on these, but this is ridiculous!! I miss the days when cars were bolted and screwed together!

My driver and passenger seats did the same thing. I would clip it in but after a few minutes it popped out again. I took it to the Ford dealer when I had another TSB taken care of and they fixed it (hopefully for good). I was told two pop rivets were installed on each side of the seats. Hope this helps.

I know what you mean. Ford had to replace the cheapo plugs that hold the trunk trim in place. When I installed my sequentials I noticed 1 was broken before I even started. After they replaced them about 2 months later they had to be replaced again.
