Car was 'shipped convoy carrier' Feb. 7th. I was expecting it to arrive this week, however, when I called my dealer he said car still wasn't here. He called the famous number and spoke to an analyst and was told car had been pulled for quality check. I would think Ford would have checked it before putting it on a carrier. Why would they wait 2 weeks? Does anybody know what kind of a delay a quality check is going to cause?

Hey Lori & welcome to the boards. Also welcome to the club. See my sig for my 2 missed ETA dates. It's now 2 weeks late. And they gave me the same line "quality maintance storage". And that was a week ago today & noone has heard anything since.

So noone seems to really know what the quality check thing is about. At least if they do they haven't said yet. So welcome to the the sequal to the 1st waiting game. Laters

Ford pulls cars at random and checks them for quality! Don't be surprised, when your car finally shows up, that it might have 25 to 50 miles on it! Unfortunately, that's just the way it goes. B)

The quality checks are random to ensure that a certain level of workmanship is being acheived. All manufacturers do it. If Ford shipped all cars without doing the checks, there would be recalls galore. They catch (hopefully) the problems before they occur and update the manufacturing processes to ensure it doesn't happen again! Patience, I know it is easy for me to say, but you should be speeding around in your new pony very soon

The good thing is - it has to be built to be checked.....thats 95% of the battle.

Well, after mine finally came in my dealer finally did talk to a head guy at Ford, and basically told him that my car, because it only had about 15 miles on it when it came, probably was one that was taken apart in some parts, and then put back together.

Quality checks are quality checks .... I learned to deal with mine, but I know my car is in good condition.

Thanks for the answers. It probably won't make the wait any shorter but at least somebody cares! The part about taking the car apart was not funny, but my husband laughed his butt off. I hope you really are kidding!

Thanks again everybody

Not a flame but will post as a general FYI since I know other postings from owners sure have helped me to know what to possibly be aware of. Got my car Tuesday night and while driving home, heard a noise that IMO didn't belong there. Louder at low rpms but always present. Decided to take it in. The service dept was great, the shop foreman admitted it didn't sound right and they put it on the rack. Turned out that a bolt had not been installed in a bracket/support for the brake line and that solved the problem. The good news is that I was impressed how they jumped on the problem versus telling me yea
something not right and make an appt to comeback. The dealer is 50 miles away but I am sure going to use them. So........getting your car quality checked may be a "good thing"

Craig ~ I heard about the active alarm thing. But mine doesn't have the active alarm. So I can't figure out why mine was pulled. Oh well. As you guys said. I guess a quality check could be a good thing. At least the chances of me getting another lemon are less then if they had just shipped it.

Hopefully they will all be here soon. Laters.

Ranger/Ed's car was built the same day as mine and he got his but there was a bolt missing holding up the brake line ,could be the reason for the Quality check hold up .As long as there going over it before it's delivered to me thats a good thing .Just hope it gets here soon !!

My car was one of the first ones built & put on a quality check. # 2052 Came with 15 miles on it. Have 8K on it & not one problem except for an occasional skip in the "skipper 1000". I have reviewed all the TSB's & I don't have any of the issues.

It's worth the wait.

I found this in the Salesperson source book. I'm not a salesperson, but this link has the book: http://stopfornothing.com/2005mustang/index.php

Selected Mustang
vehicles coming
off the assembly
line go through a
comprehensive
30-mile test-drive,
which includes a
water test and a
review of sheet
metal, paint,
interior trim and
functional items.

Now when the Dealer gets the car as part of the delivery fee I thought they are to go through it to make sure that it is ready for its new home ? so does this get done twice maybe then ? Ahh just give me this puppy and I'll be a Happy Camper !

When Ford does a "Quality Check" to cars that are randomly pulled from deliveries, I believe a special seal to certify this, including the added on mileage, is attached to the window sticker and paperwork. If you don't have this, it sounds like BS from the dealer to me .
