Problems with Fiberglass?

I mentioned I maybe buying a fiberglass hood to a friend and that started him off. Anyways, what are some downsides to fiberglass?

Should I worry about chips which could hit the hood and then fixing those types of problems? Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong, but weren't the SN95 and New Edge hoods fiberglass from the factory? Corvettes (at least in the 70's) were fiberglass front ends. I've been running a fiberglass hood on my 89 mustang for about 4 years now with no complaints.

My guess is he was arguing the point supporting carbon fiber?

No, he was advocating aluminum hoods which I know are better but cost and the designs out there dont justify the steep price in my opinion.

He was just making it seem like, if a small rock hits ur hood it'll crack and then to fix the hood would have to be sanded down, reglassed and repainted cause that one small rock would cause more cracking.
