edit: You may want to type all of your words in full (not like in a text message), otherwise people will get annoyed with you.
Please. It is harder to read when you are trying to figure out what you are writing.

I think the parents should set some goals for this kid. Like:

B- or better in English
B- or better in Typing class

Get those out of the way, then you can have their castoff station wagon when you turn 16, while they drive a new 2005 Mustang, enjoying their freedom from playing limo driver to a 15yr old.

And knowing well enough that they can take the wagon back on the weekends for Costco or Home Depot runs, while you catch up on your homework.

:headbang:

Seriously though, you are very lucky that they are considering any sort of new car of any sort for a 16yr old kid. If you want to learn around here, use the search function, and write in semi-complete, reasonably well typed sentences.

Was that a complete sentence?
I hope I am not being to harsh, but I think your parents should spend that money on your education rather than a Mustang. [/b][/quote]
At least he'll have the nicest car in the McDonalds employee parking lot

Well said M1Rifle. We'll have a 16 year old next spring and he will be driving my 100k mile 2000 Bonneville when I take delivery of a V6 Premium Coupe. I hope that Stang101's parents do get the side airbags. Young drivers can often be expected to inadvertently try those out.

Spellcheckers can still be found in some bookstores. Webster compiled a good one!

I think it's nice that his parents want their kids to have nice things. I personally don't consider that spoiled. Although I'd probably buy him a beater car first to make sure he could drive decently.

What a FUNNY thread. Wuz up wit all dis'? LOL

Do any of us know 16 year olds? If we do (I have two neighbors who are 15 and 16), I think we already know how hysterical it is that any parent buy them a $23K car. Dis is the shizznit, homies!

LOL... wutz goin on herr?

I'm almost 21, which means that 5 years ago, I was excited about getting a car, getting to drive, etc. I never dreamed that my parents (dad, in particular) would just give me the keys to my dad's Ranger. It had 120,000 miles on it when I got it, but it was in nearly new condition. My parents could have afforded to buy me a new car, but I was raised in preparation for the real world. That is, big things were never just given to me. I had to earn them.

That's why I finished high school with a 4.32 GPA and was Salutatorian of my class with a full ride to any Florida state university. At the time, I was ecstatic about getting the truck, as I never imagined that my parents would do something like that, even for my 16th birthday.

Just look at the show "Newlyweds." Nick was raised NOT spoiled. Jessica always had everything given to her when she was growing up. Look at her now... she's just as spoiled as ever, and still expects people to pick up after her messes, and for other people to do her cleaning, etc. Nick, on the other hand, has millions of dollars and still does everything himself. He didn't even hire movers to move them into their house!

The moral of the story is... Appreciate your parents and never take them for granted. But, work to earn what you are given. Otherwise, in a few years, you might be sleeping in that brand new Mustang once you get out in the real world and realize that people don't look after you after you move out. Then, Poor Johnny who had to pay for his beater and worked 25 hours a week on top of school just to afford it will be graduating from college with prospects of making $50k a year.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, but don't think that you'll be able to ride it forever, either.

I saw that one, it was pretty funny.

I agree. My parents have always had money, but I always had to pay for things myself. Sometimes, my parents might buy something for me, but I would have to pay it back like a loan. I learned a lot of responsibility thru the years from them. I also learned that if I screwed it up, I would have to pay to fix it. So I busted my butt to work hard and make good money myself, so I could fix something, or buy nice things.

I am older now and have been rewarded for my responsibility. My parents have given me some money as a living inheritance (they want to see me spend my inheritance) so I can buy a new GT.

When they told me, I felt like Ralphie on "The Christmas Story." My step-dad had a '67 Mustang and really liked it. He wants me to have the new 05. He was like Ralphie's dad when he opened the bb gun present. And I was like Ralphie, opening it up.

Must go to my kids old school. (That's why they don't go there anymore.)

Seriously- I had to drive a stupid 81 camaro(In 1990!). I sure as hades didn't get a new one, nor will my kids. That's why we have OUR old cars- so we can give the kids the old ones and go buy new ones. Ever heard the expression throwing money up a cats ............. ?

I am THIRTY ONE! And am just now getting one. It took me my entire LIFE! And lots of sweat, and hard work before I could even think about it. And you know what? I will appreciate it more because of that. :bang:

In my defense.......
We own a FORD too!
OF course I don't drive it often, but we still have it. Someday when it gets a flamejob and a softtop it will be supercool. Restoring from the inside out, 3 years and counting.
Gm- Spend all your Eleanor fund three times putting it back together. Beg Texago not to top the coolant off with death cool with every oil change, fight with them because they invented it, but have the best oil change in the land, radiator flushes become a second nature.........Yes, I am using water for my coolant, but I can't put green stuff in it because no matter how many flushes, you cant get the death cool out all the way- catch 22- if you put in the orange stuff again, you replace the intake gasket/belt/waterpump/thermostat/hoses again($$$$), if you put water in, that's gross.

The time comes soon- Y'all ready? I have decided!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY! B)

Here is my fly by the seat plan: So how am I gonna get a DORA? Will a pic do?
Get $ from my bank to avoid the Car finance gods( I hate them).
Go to Big Ole Car dealer Brad Told me to use, Point- say this one, drive home. Oops, make pit stop first at Ford Dealer who made me mad to stick my tongue out at them. Enjoy. Sleep in Car one week, drive to NY and Florida to test her out.

I would ground my children for life if they talked like that,I moved far away to get them back into a decent school to make sure they learned to spell and add and read. And I assure you, in keeping with the family tradition- My 11 year old wants a green beetle, she's getting a Mustang(So I can give her my 05 and get an 11)Not to mention she has to get a job and pay for the insurance on it. I got an old car that was NOT a mustang for punishment,, and yes I had to pay for it. (Long story, but I totaled my parents car the day I got my license joyriding ). Know where the kids I went to school with who got brand new cars for their 16th bday are working now? Chevron and walmart. . That's what happens when you get everything handed to you.
