Price of 07 GT 5-speed now $350 higher!
I went on Ford Direct to see if my 07 GT automatic had went up in price since taking delivery on 09-25-06.Sure enough, the base price of an 07 GT deluxe has gone up $350 but the price of the optional automatic has gone down to $645($350 less) so the MSRP stays the same. However if you buy the standard 5-speed you get the increase in base price alone.I guess this is Ford's way of penalizing manual buyers or rewarding automatic buyers.Interesting.

I guess one would AUTOMATICALLY assume FORD is Trying to STICK it to us! LOL! If An Automatic is basically costing the Same as it was for total vehicle cost. I would Guess they would rather not sell us the stick. Either Not enough to go around or a Glut of Automatics. Good Find BTW.

Sounds like simple supply & demand economics.
Ford can only get a certain # of T3650s from Tremmec, so raising the price of the manual GT, which easily sells out, is a good business move. Ford will make more profit on the manuals while also steering some customers into buying automatics.
Last I checked Ford was free to price any of their products anyway they want to.

Not sure what the actual stats show, but IMO/observation, 5 speeds are more coveted in the GT models, and autos in the V6s...
Good insight. I bought an '05 V6 a couple of weeks ago, followed by an '05 GT last week. What I found was this: According to KBB, the value of a GT with either tranny is the same. However, the value of a V6 is $700 LESS with a 5-speed than with an automatic.

originally, i had found 1 dealer in nj that would only give me x-plan if it was on the GT automatic.. they wouldn't do it on the manual... so i walked away, and found 4 other dealers that would.

Wonder if its gonna be like the C5 Corvette where an automatic was standard equipment. Manuals were optional and was near a $900 upgrade.
Usually, in both Mustangs and Camaro V8s, I think a manual is more coveted. But the V6s, automatics are more in demand.

When I bought my 05 I was determined to get a stick. Dealer had none, but kept trying to sell me the automatic that was still in the showroom. Interesting that almost 2 years later and the situation is the same.

I priced a 07 GT around mid to late Sept and the price has remained the same. Are you sure you're comparing the Ford direct prices or are you using KBB/MSN/NADA prices, which do not account for marketing/advertisement markups (that are accounted for using Ford Direct or dealership invoice)?
My local dealership originally told me that they do NOT honor the X-Plan for manual GTs. I said, WTF! I went home, grabbed all the paperwork, and called up 7 local dealerships and asked specifically if they would offer X-Plan pricing for factory ordered GTs with the manual trans. They all said, "yeah, why wouldn't we?" I went to the first dealership ready to tell them this when another salesperson there said they would take the X-Plan PIN for a manual GT.
Basically the dealer doesn't have to participate, but it is in their best financial interest to participate and take the X-Plan PIN for a GT with the manual transmission. They earn some profit, generate revenue, and a customer gets to drive home a GT a few months later (or on the spot for showroom/lot buys).

$500 REBATE on Mustangs
Go to Ford Direct and you should see that the base price for a 2007 Deluxe has gone up from $25,275 to $25,625-$350 more. The price of an automatic went down from $995 to $645,so the total MSRP for an automatic stays the same.If you get a 5-speed there is a $350 base price increase but no option is reduced in price to nullify the $350. On the bright side, there is a $500 REBATE in effect until 01-02-07 on retail deals-not on any plan deals.

I can get X-Plan PINs from Ford as a shareholder, so I never look at the MSRP. Base invoice for a GT Deluxe still appears to be $24,818. The local dealer said the $500 rebate is for the general public (as well as A/X/Z plan buyers).

I just used Forddirect (for the 3rd time today) to price out the Mustang GT Deluxe and the invoice price has remained the same since mid/late September 2006. Perhaps the price already increased at the time?

I was a shareholder of Ford common stock (F) for like 3-4 yrs.. u mean if you own Ford stock, they give out X-plan PINS? am i understanding that correct?

PS I bought "F" stock from Scottrade and just sent them a copy of my statement.

70% of the orders ( that is people who order their car ) are manuals. The overall mix is about 50-50. This is why you see an extra $1000 of bonus cash on 2006 autos that you don't see on the 2006 manuals.

Yep! Own at least 1 share and you can get up to 2 PINs per year! Our family has been loyal Ford customers for over 30 years and I just found out about it, LOL. I've attached the PDF form. I mailed it in and within 3 business days, I got an email from a Ford employee with my X-Plan PIN and information on how to register at myplan.ford.com

thats awesome. so basically anyone looking to save a boatload of money just has to buy 1 share for whatever its trading around right now.. what $8? so spend $8 plus a trading fee and save possible $1000. makes sense to me.. wish i knew about this earlier.. i wouldn't have had to go through the hassle of getting it through my parents friend. oh well water under the bridge and i saved anyway
Thanks though!!
