Pony package limits options
I am thinking of buying a Mustang next year and am starting to wade through the impressive list of options. I originally wanted a GT but am leaning towards getting a convertible and the price just gets way too high with both. So I thought maybe the V6 with the Pony package because I think that is the best looking grille and the regular V6 without fog lights just looks naked. Now I find my interior color choices limited because the premium interior/color accent package is not available with the Pony package. I could just get the grille/fogs from the accessory catalog but I like the wheels, too.
Any Pony package owners out there who went through the same thing? I don't want to spend a fortune on accessories (grille, fogs, wheels, etc.) just to get the premium interior on the V6. At that point the GT starts to make more sense and my convertible dreams get more remote.

What is your budget? You can order a GT vert for invoice price at a lot of places, so maybe that gets the price down into your range. There's only about 4k difference between a fully loaded V6 and a fully loaded GT. Even less difference between a Pony Package V6 and a base model GT. I say don't compromise, go with the GT vert. This is coming from someone who has an '05 V6 vert and now has a GT vert on order
I think I can live with the V6. The GT averages $6k more and I'm not sure what it gets you beyond the V6 engine. The convertible is expensive, too, at about $5k extra but it's pretty clear what you are getting there.
I am liking the black interior with color accent from the premier interior package but hate the base V6 grille. Since the Pony grille is available as an accessory I might just get the interior I want and add the grille, a lot easier than changing the interior of a true Pony model.

Get a GT, you will regret it later if you dont. Lots of V6'rs on here that have stated they wish they would have gotten the GT. You only live once, and with this beautiful car dont chince out. This is something you could have for many years to come, pass it on down thru the family etc. Yes most dealers now are definitely offering some better deals, especially if you want a 06. I know some just cant do it, but if theres any way you can, get the GT you wont regret it.
I have not regreted my V6 choice once.
I don't think it's fair to say that he would regret, simply because you prefer the GT.
Everybody is different and has different priorities.
Ultimately, which to pick is a decision only the buyer can make.

Right on AW.
I regretted my purchase of a V6 for a short time because I listened to posturing idiots, people I know personally and on other boards no one from here, but after spending more time driving my V6 I love the thing. My only regret is I wish I got stick, but that doesn't matter.
If you like the V6 then get it. There is NOTHING wrong with them! They may not have a V8, but they have enough kick to satisfy. Except for the power nuts.
Also I really like the sound they have. Not a potent as the GT obviously, but they have a nice rumble.
I have to agree with RaGsHoCkEy88. Unless you want ALL of the trinkets the pony package has, just get a grille kit. It will be cheaper anyway.
Or you could go my route:
Pay off my Stang as quickly as possible so I can save and get a Viper.
