Unhappy Please, Help ASAP!

Guys!
Just got my 2008 Mustang V6.
Locked the car with the remote control. The alarm chime sound.
Then I decided to come back to get something from the car - I can't unlock it, the key doesn't work.
I tried to open with the physical key - it works - but I'm afraid to open the door - because of the alarm system!
Anybody, any suggestions why did it happen? and what to do??

Do you actually have an alarm, or is it the factory passive system, which isn't actually an alarm. There was an active alarm system, but it was an option and didn't come on cars without the option. If it's just the passive system, which requires the chipped key to start the car, nothing will happen when you open the door.

Thank you! When I purchased the car, the seller convinced me that it's the alarm system(and I'm a newbie for Mustangs)). I risked, and put the keys in the door and opened it. And it was perfectly fine. So, it's just a passive system. Thank you for your reply!!!

I am not sure about the earlier years; but the later years have a bettery in the key that goes dead after a few years and needs to be replaced. In earlier years it might be in the remote thingy. Anyway check to see if you can replace the battery; and do it soon; because if the battery sits dead for a long time the remote will loset its programming and have to be reprogrammed by a dealer.
