With all of the aftermarket design companies tweaking the ’05, i.e. Foose’s latest creation, etc. I was wondering what you guys thought of a ‘Plain Jain’ ’05 but with some muscle under the hood . . a la the Super Cobra Jet Drag Pack 1969 below.

Seems a ’05 would lend itself to this less-is-more design . . .

Thoughts?

Jason,

I'm a strong believer in "less is more." I think it speaks much higher when you have a mean engine and subtle mods and smoke people than have all the striping, fancy pipes, chroming, etc. that just scream for people to challenge you. I'm all about being soft spoken and carying a monster under the hood. Personally the only exterior mods I'm thinking about are a Ducktail, maybe some ss foglight inserts, and eventually a hood (if I can afford it) No striping for me.

A Sleeper S197 Mustang would be awesome, especially since it's really hard to really improve on the new STangs looks

Look at MikeM and Stang169's cars. They aren't decorated and are running mid-high 12s B)

Now... Dressing down an 05 by removing badges and such would just be evil

I like the idea, as I'm all about suttle exterior mods as well. If/when I do some mods, they better make the car faster! It already looks darn good!

You could go for the V6 look (V6grille and front bumper, no GT emblems, black rocker mouldings, V6 side strip) and then 450+ hp under the hood

How's about:

A.) 32v Navigator config with forged internals and a twin screw .

B.)HD trans and clutch to handle 600 rwhp.

C.) Carbon fiber hood and fenders. No front sway bar.

D.less sound proofing and rear seat delete to put car on diet.

E.)4.10 posi.

F.)285's or better on the back....may need a factory fender flare.

VOILA!!! The new drag pack....should run 10's off the show room floor.
No stripes ,please. Officer Friendly knows too much as it is.

OR, just call it "BOSS something" with a small decal on the side. They would sell out in a week.

I couldn't agree more with the less is more concept.
Way too many people mod their cars with trinkets that they think look good.
Reminds me of my daughters when they were 16 and had to use a putty knife to apply the makeup. They thought it looked nice. Little did they realize.
Don't get me wrong, there are some TMSer's cars that are truley stunning. I am not speaking about anyone here, I am just saying in general. Put the green under the hood. Walk softly, and carry a big stick.

I think it would be kind of hard to have a sleeper 2005 mustang. The new mustang looks so bad hiney in stock form that the only way you could dress it down would be to change out the sheet metal with a GTO.

I would like to see Ford offer a both a road-racer specific and a drag-oriented model, stripped down for the intended purpose.

- 5 spd std
- Front Chin Spoiler
- Rear Spoiler
- V6 Deluxe Std Options
- Available Options:

- Drag Pack Option with Staggered Rear Shocks

Boss 302 - Road Race Oriented

- 5 spd std
- 14" Front/12" Rear Brakes
- 18" Wheels
- Rear IRS
- Bigger Front and Rear Swaybars, Stiffer Springs and Shocks

What exactly do you have in mind? A ram air shaker?

I need more info before I can agree with you, or call that "the stupidest thing I've ever heard"
