PIE or other

I know a while back there was in depth disscussion on how well the PIE addaptor works and now there's discussion of the "advanced trip tunes" but i really want to know what works the best, and is the least expensive... i want to know what problems people encountered and how easy it is to install...

im thinking about asking for something like this for xmas but not sure if i should go to pie, wait for ford or what...

my FM modulator has been getting more and more static and more stations pop up in the N.O. area

I got the peripheral unit when they first came out but it was plagued with the sam problems that the pie has. From what I hear though peripheral has worked out the kinks. They're unit goes for about 160 and is a true plug and play. It will charge your ipod and let you control it throught the factory head unit.

I tried an FM transmitter and never got it to sound even remotely decent. I have a Creative Zen Vision M so I am looking at the PIE. Are the new ones working or did they ever get them working right?

I just realized i didnt make this as clear as i wanted... I'm not using it for an i-pod so the ones that plug into the bottom of the i-pod are useless to me... i want something with just an audio jack... it can be RCA jacks or standard 1/8" stereo jack

Well if that's the case you should go with the pie adapter.

Id like to see a guide on how the 2nd poster in this thread set his up. Ended up with the 1/8" right there next to the stereo. Looks like a custom frame around the console.

That's just an overlay that goes over your stock console. If you want to do that all you would need to do is remove the console and drill a hole through it.

I have the pie and it works pretty well for what it is. At ver high volumes there is a lot of static, but nowhere near what an FM modulator makes. It sounds a lot better than an fmm I think. I just ran a wire up under the center console and ahve the wire come out the little door inside the console. Works well and no one would know it's there. If I want I can return it completely stock with no problems.

I have the pie auxiliary input adapter from discountcarstereo.com and it works great! I have no static at all, even at very high volumes. It takes less than an hour to intall also...

I have a PIE as well and no problems....

note: choose a good power source (not a cig lighter), or else you'll get intereference/static while using the cig lighter simultaneously...

yes. the PIE has a power wire and a ground that lead to the adapter. On the other end are the RCA jacks. You will need to buy an RCA to 1/8 jack cable to connect to whatever you wish to use...

I bought mine through Crutchfield and it came with all necessary instructions to remove the center console and redio bezel, as well as how to wire the adapter.

PS - I beleive the PIE will not work in any 05+ system that has the CD changer. It has an adapter harness that connects to the rear of the radio and then the stock harness connects to the adapter. I beleive the systems that include a CD changer intereferes with that connection.

I'm not 100% sure that this issue hasnt been resolved (check the PIE website), but I dont have an upgraded system so it wasnt a problem for me...

I have the PIE and it is awesome. My car has the shaker 500, so I guess it should work with most cars.

I can turn the volume up as loud as my ears can take and I don't get any static or fall in sound quality.
