No it is not where the Fog Lights go! The GT has it's own Grill! The Honeycomb areas that are filed in were done to control Air Flow Through the Radiator as well as to Reduce the Amount of Open Space in the Front End of the car to Reduce Aerodynamic Drag! The More Area that Air is Allowed to Enter the Front of the Car the more of a Parachute Affect it has on the Car.
Duh, the GT has its own grill. And to your credit, Ford only needs so much airflow into the car. ITS ALSO THE AREA WHERE THE FOGS GO(see image below)! So, like I said, its a non-functioning area of the car so they blocked it off.

that's not the production grill... rather that one:

Thanks for the picture with that angle. I have not seen that yet. First time I had a good look at the cover. I think that will take a while to grow on me (if it does at all).

The lower facia black insert in the above pic isn't the newest one. The production version will have a honeycomb pattern on the black filled-in parts. Looks really good in person.

I know, Dan, I was just too lazy to look for a 100% proper pic... remembered that someone posted that torch red pic a couple of topics below so I just got it from there I thought it wasn't important because it was actually the upper grille we were talking about
