Sorry, but I don't see the comparison. When you buy a house you get a closing date which is usually accurate. When you buy this car you get the salesman's best guess at the delivery date.

You must realise that Ford has thousands and thousands of people that have placed orders. They also have thousand of cars that they must make to get to the dealerships. You must also remember that Ford does not make only a Mustang but a few other models as well.
Anyways, I was just trying to get you guys to relax a bit. Not to get on the defensive. Again, good luck with the arrival date of your Stang.
Since I've had my car on order I've watched 3 houses go completely up in my neighborhood. I found and bought my house in a little over a month (already built). Point is, people have ordered their house and had it built and are now living there and I still don't have my car. Bad comparison, but thanks for the lecture.

Glad you think it's funny.

LOL. Tere must be no hope for you guys. My point is plain and simple. Buying a house is not something that happens overnight.

On a different note, do you have your Mustang (it certainly appears so)? How long did it take you to get it?
There is just no getting around the fact that Ford has royally screwed up customer relations by not setting expectations correctly to bgin with. They know when the cars will be built, how many will be built and where they all will go. Within a day or two at the max they should have a very accurate build day, time and delivery schedule. And stop building V6's to hang around lots to further frustrate the people who have already ordered (there are 6-7 Mustangs at a local dealership, yet people are still getting wait listed to get the car they want). Build what you have already sold first.
To go back to this "house" analogy (doesn't mean I agree with comparing buying a house to ordering a car; just trying to go with the flow), about 5 years ago I contracted a builder to build my house. "Contracted" being the operative word - we actually had a contract. He had to build my house to my specifications within a certain time period, then he got paid. He didn't sign a contract with me, then go out and build 4 other houses hoping to sell those in a hot market. I didn't have to drive through my addition and see 4 or 5 houses he'd built and sold to other people who were living in them long before he built my house. I didn't have to rent a house or apartment for months in order to have a place to live while waiting on him to build my house, while watching him still building houses for others who came after me.
And, most importantly, when I drove through my addition before my house was built, I wasn't subjected to seeing other people already living in their houses that my builder constructed for them long before he built my house standing out in their driveway making condescending remarks to me about being patient while waiting for the builder to build my house.

I know the original poster had good intentions with this topic, but it's easy to tell others to be patient when you already have YOUR car.
If his point is that the pain of the waiting will just be a memory once the car comes in, then I agree with that.
If the point is to stick it out, rather than cancel the order and go out and buy some other model of car on impulse, because once the Stang comes in it will be as good as anticipated, then I also agree with that. But if someone cancels their order and goes out and buys something other than a Mustang, then I think they didn't really want the Mustang that badly in the first place.
If this post had been started by someone who is waiting patiently for their car, then I'd take it more seriously. B)

Guys,
You must read between the lines. What I am trying to say is that when your looking for a house your patient until you find it and until you get in it. If you find your dream house and then find out that its going to be 3-4 months or more until you can get in it because its not completely built or because the family that lives there now will not be out until then; do you walk away from that dream house? I would think not. Atleast I wouldnt. Same thing with a car. I was extremely lucky to only wait for 9 weeks. Guess what though. After 6 weeks I start looking on the net to see what other car I might be able to find. Then I thought to myself; hey, this Stang is my dream car I am gonna wait until I get it!! This is my point. Just dont give up on your dream car the same way you would not give up on your dream house. A house and a car are the 2 major purchases that a person makes in his life time.
Now I am sorry yopu guys want to get are upset and argue with the comparison but thats the way I see it.
I am just trying to get a point accros to those that might get upset and cancle their order and go with a car that was not their dream car in the 1st place. Now going to another dealer to reorder makes sense.
