Sorry, but taking up two parking spaces is just plain IGNORANT. I park well away from other cars too but there is no point in antagonizing other people by pr**k parking. It just makes them want to **** you off.

If there is plenty of parking spots available, and you are already parking as far away as possible to avoid other people parking near you, and they still do, then take up two spots. They have already shown they are out to p*** you off.

I strongly disagree. I have a '67 Shelby and on the rare occasion I do take it out to a public place (retro diner, etc.), I always park far away (but in a visible spot so I can keep an eye on it from where I am sitting) and take up two spots. There's no law against this. This is to insure that no one comes along and parks next to me and dings my $7000 paint job.
Now if there is someone stupid enough to take up two spaces in a full parking lot, that's a different story. But I think as long as you park far away and in an open area, there's nothing wrong with taking up two spaces to protect your car.

Stem valve remover tool. Remove the valve and leave it next to the tire...on 2 tires.

Ever since I bought my 1999 GT, I have been super **** about where I park it. Even at work, I park way out where noone else does. There are a few of of that park that far out. At my previous job, I parked way out where the security camera would pass my car every ten to fifteen seconds. I told the guard if they saw anyone "messing around" to call me. Never had a probelm.

I still disagree, I've seen many people go out of their way just to ruin a person's nice car when they haven't parked out of the way or taking up two spots.
In short you're better off to park far away and take up two spots if there are plenty available. Parking far away to avoid the morons who will damage your car just because its nice, and taking up two spots to avoid those who will park near you and are too stupid to watch that they don't slam their door into your car.

If there are enough spots, I always take two. I try and park as far as possible from the crowd and don't even think twice about "should I take both spots?" It's a no brainer. It's not illegal. And I work too hard to have someone who does not care about their car ruin mine!
I also take two spots with my Crew Cab truck. If the people who built parking lots were sensible enough to make enough room to actually park (most are stuck in the 70's - you know - compact - 10 feet long, 5 feet wide) then I would take only one. As it is, if you take one spot with your Stang, you have what - maybe 18 inches between cars? I know and see alot of people who are over 18 inches wide (America is growing!) and don't think twice about opening their door all the way and then going "whoops, oh well, too bad - they shouldn't have parked so close to ME".

I always try to park next to more expensive cars than mine. I figure they don't want to have their cars damaged either, and MAY be more respectful of private property than someone who drives a POS. I like to park next to four-doors. Their doors are smaller, and are less likely to be swung into yours. (Unless of course the stalls are smaller.) And you've got to be careful on windy days; the wind can catch their door and slam it into yours!
Otherwise, I always park as far away from the shopping mall as I can and just hoof it in. It gives me a little peace of mind and some exercise to boot!
