I live in San Francisco and parking is a nightmare!!! Does anyone else have trouble judging their distance from the curb with their S197? I wish Ford would have the same setup like some other vehicles where if you have the passenger side mirror selected and put the vehicle into reverse the mirror automatically turns down to assist in viewing!!! Does anyone know of aftermarket mirrors to help with the viewing of distance between their Stang and the outside of the vehicle??? I love my Stang but these mirrors I always seem to be way off when I get out the vehicle

I find it easy parking near curbs. The mirrors seem to give me a good look at my rear tires when parking in reverse. I pull in backwards until my rear tire is close to the curb and then swing the front of the car into the stall. I'm running 20's and thankfully have never rubbed them.

Maybe I need to re-adjsut my mirrors or my seat. I can not even see the rear tires at all when trying to park

I find it so much easier than my last car. I never hit the curb with that either.

my job has a gated parking lot and when im home its either in the driveway or in the garage.

ive only needed to parallel park it like 3 times and never had a problem

I agree that the visibility is rather poor in the S197. My head barely touches the ceiling and yet the stock hood is still in my way (I'm 6'3" 148 lb) The rear windshield and C pillars block some of the peripheral view when backing up. I also have a 2000 Crown Vic and find that it is easier to drive in tight traffic in forward and reverse. The reduced power steering assist in the S197 also does not help much when trying to park.

Conversely, I test drove a 07 Focus and rented a 07 Taurus. Both cars had significantly better visibility and were extremely easy to drive in traffic and park in tight spots. The hood was barely visible in both cars and the windows were position/sized properly. However the S197 has much better sideview mirrors - they're HUGE and I like them a lot.

adjust your mirror when your a block away from where you think your going to park. that way at least it will be ready when you get there.
I haven't had any problems parking on either side of the street.

I haven't had to parallel park since my drivers test in 1983

I recently met a client downtown and this $35 lunch costs me $129 for a rim I scuffed on the curb. Next time I will valet! I was not thrilled to say the least.

They dont even have that in the new test so I've never really parallel parked before.

SF rules! But I can imagine parking there, especially with 5 speed. The only thing auto is better in SF.

Break down and buy a 2" round convex mirror to stick to the passenger mirror glass, you will be able to see the tire and curb clearly.
