The paint job on my Windveil Blue is excellent. 2 1/2 months with 3,100 miles and one very small chip on the hood. I used touch up paint and now I cannot find the chip. I am going to keep it polished with Meguires NXT for added protection.

Okay, I know a lot has probably changed in 13 years, but I got a red LX in 92. The paint was horrible, but I didn't even notice it right away because I never looked. About a year after I got the car, the clear coat started coming off in places, and I don't mean little spots. I didn't do anything about it.

Eventually, the roof was perfect, but the rest of the car was faded to every shade of red. There was metal showing in areas of the hood.

I loved it. I loved the way the paint was completely faded in spots and shiny as heck on the roof. I don't know why, but something about the natural wear appealed to me.

I picked a Legend Lime car this time because I assumed I would get the same fading over the next 10 + years, and I think the green will fade well.

Okay, I know it sounds crazy, but it looked great. A faded beauty with almost 200k miles. I was proud of that car, and if my V6 vert is half as good as that one and survives to have that faded beauty, I will be the happiest Mustang owner around.

I had a nice sized bubble, spike, drip whatever on my passenger side door. Took it to Ford and they said they would repaint the whole door.

I thought about showing them the oxidized spot in the hood and having them repaint it, but the spot is so hard to see that I think I would rather have the factory paint job than have the dealer put an aftermarket one on it.

I have 1500k and two paint chips. The dealership had to repaint my passenger door because of something under the paint. Not sure what it was but it made the paint portrude. I have also noticed trash under the paint in a couple of places but it's not noticeable until I hand wash it. I love her anyway.

Torch Red with 3300 miles, no paint chips. I do have the clear bra on the front bumper.

My rear bumper cover always looked like a bad match to me, looked much lighter than the rest of the car. Thanks to the idiot who backed into me in a parking lot, I had a new cover painted and installed yesterday. Much better! FYI, the painter used the Ford paint code and showed me a spray sample next to the car. It was way off, my car looked orange next to that. He had to add yellow to get it to match.

Just an observation but most of the folks in this thread reporting chip problems have black cars.

I just got my black GT three weeks ago. At the dealership I noticed a small bump in the paint beside the windsheild. It looks like a bit of weld splatter or something. I wasn't worried about it, but then a couple of weeks ago I was washing it and noticed that on the drivers side rear wheel well there is a run with some tiny bubbles in it. Actually not that noticeable, I felt it before I saw it. I took it to the dealer and they said they would repaint it. I'm not so happy about having to repaint but I may as well have it perfect. Fortunately the weld bump and the run are on the same panel! A little disappointing! :bang:

When i got my car, the runner under the passanger side door was only about half painted. I did not notice right away because the plastic is also black. Once I saw it, i could not believe it. Showed it to the Dealership, they were very surprised. They were happy to re-paint it for me.
that parts looks good. Now i am having trouble removing bugs imbedded into the front of the car.

So, as far as the splotch on my hood goes, my dad has a theory. He is a huge car guy, but he is not as up on today's processes as back in the 60's. He said since it was glossy and obviously under the clearcoat, it was probably where there was something big in the paint or a really bad run, and it was buffed out before they shot it with clearcoat.
