owners w/ man. trans...shifting question

Ok all you that don't drive slushbox like me. If you drive your car everyday, do you get tired of shifting? Are you city or more urban type people?

Just wondering...thx.

I have driven mine in everything from bumper to bumper traffic to the open road. I never get tired of shifting. I love it. Especially with the hydraulic clutch making it that much easier on your left leg.

I never get tired of shifting. I drove a manual for years then took several years off. After a year of driving the Mustang its second nature and always fun. I know they make automatics for Mustangs but not for me.

Almost 80 percent city driving here and it is a blast with the manual!

Driving a stick just lets you and your car share so much personality. You can be all smooth and easy going with slow, lazy shifts or you can be angry and abrupt or anywhere in between. Its more than just pedal to the metal!

I drove nothing but sticks for 15 years. I don't even think about it. The problem is remembering not to go for the clutch in the Mountaineer.

I drive the manual GT in any type of condition from bumper to bumper traffic, to sparse urban traffic, to the highway. Yes it can get a bit tiresome with all the stop and go traffic in the more congested areas like Warren or Troy in MI, or the traffic on I-75/I-94 but you eventually get used to it. Like Mustang jack, I have to remember to stop looking for the clutch when I drive my 00 Crown Vic

Right now, I don't have any autos.
My sister has never owned an auto.
Stick shift is just normal for us.
We have driven in all kinds of places.
Together, we have over 70 years of driving experience.

I don't get tired of shifting, I love it. I have the same issue with going from manual to automatic though. My daily driver is a '97 Escort and I always find myself looking for the clutch pedal that isn't there. Manual is just more fun, although it sucks in heavy traffic. I deal with it though. The hydraulic clutch is much lighter and easier than the cable clutch of the '04 and older cars.

I wish my Vic had a manual... it would be a lot more fun to drive!

and there's nothing like downshifting and hearing that burble out of the pipes.

I don't normally downshift coming to a stop at a light or a stop sign, but downshifting to pass or just downshifting inside a tunnel makes me glad I have a manual gearbox.

Honestly, I usually don't even notice shifting. It's just something I do without thinking unless there is a reason to concentrate on it.

+1 to that, I can't tell you how many times I've hit the brakes "hard" with my left foot, after I got used to using the clutch at stops

40 miles a day in stop-n-go traffic and never get tired of pumping the clutch. The clutch is pretty light on the S197, but even the times I take the '94 Dodge Ram Turbo Cumming w/manual tranny to work it doesn't bother me... well, my left calf cramps up a bit but I love driving too much to switch to an auto.

But on a more important note - Paige Davis is back! Just something about that bird...

Hey Greg,

I love the stick. Always have since my first car, a '69 Mach I. Then on the other hand, there's my wife. She's told me that a stick is fun to drive once in a while but wouldn't want it in her daily driven car. Maybe you're feeling the same way? That's why you need one of each!!!

Willie

Well, I did not get my Mustang yet.. but I ordered it in manual while my only dealer in here has 6-7 Mustangs in his lot but in automatic.. as you can see in my signature, 4 months just to get a manual Mustang

My friends are calling me crazy to order a mnual car these days as we are facing rush hours and crowdy roads all over the day.. but I guess I will have no problems with driving my dream car in manual

Buy the way, my other car is a Fiat Coupè Turbo with manual transmission.. I also bought a Suzuki Swift last year and it was manual

My wife & I both have manual Mustangs, and we both love'em!

Last week I attempted to teach my 15-year-old daughter how to drive a stick. After about 5 minutes of jerky starts and stall-outs, she decided to stay with her 4Runner with an auto. That's just fine with me.....IMO, young teenagers and Mustang GTs are not a good combo anyway!
