Owner Soon To Be!
My wife and I started talking cars, and she mentioned the new mustang. She's absorbed just about every snippet of info about it because of my mustang mania - Self admitted
Well, we started looking at the new stangs at the lots around Charleston, SC. I happen to live out in the country (about an hour out of the city), and decided to check up on a local dealership. Thinking they wouldn't have so much as a single mustang on the lot, I was shocked to find 2 V6 models.
My wife and I (being that we have to travel about 80 miles round trip each day) decided the V6 was the better route not only for the fuel economy, but for the cost. We figured the best bet is to get a loaded up V6 and save a few thou than to get a stripped GT. Besides... I have an absolutely Sweet and fast as all get out 66 stang with a 302 that is quite boss. Why bother with an 8 when I already have one that can stomp the new stangs?
It makes my resto that much more special. So, we decided to go for a 6 model, and as it turns out, this dealership has one that is fully loaded to the max (V6 premium with ALL the options,,, even the key pad on the door). It's white with red leather interior. A really nice catch, I must say. We test drove the car (first time driving ANY of the new mustangs) and immediately fell in love with it.
Everything else is BLAND in comparison. So, we talked to the guy, got our price, and should be getting the car tomorrow. Now the sick part is what we're paying for the car. I looked on Ford at the price just to verify that I was not being deceived. The sticker AND the ford website quote the car at around 23,700 (MSRP) with an invoice price at around 21,900. This backwoods local dealership quoted me at 21,900 for the car. They're asking invoice.
Just to make sure I wasn't dreaming, I actually verified the price 4 times with 4 seperate folks. They're also lining up some EXCELLENT financing that so far looks perfect. The people have been absolutely AWESOME to me (as kind as you'll ever find). They have made our first car buying experience one worth remebering so far.
He's crunching the numbers on the loan first thing tomorrow morning, and if all goes well, we should have the car tomorrow evening after we finish up all of the paperwork. Oh what a glorious day! I never thought we would end up with an 05 stang, but I must say I'm absolutely FLOORED to be sittin' pretty, especially on a deal like I'm getting!

Yeah, I'm not really that crazy for the key pad either, but I figure... a deal like this on a car that has all the rest.... I'll learn to accept it.
Of course... I've seen pictures of the key pad, and it sits about an inch off of the car in the pics. This one looks like it's right on the paint. Maybe I'm just not looking closely, and it's a "buy me" type decal that actually comes off. Not sure... I hadn't looked too closely at it, but I do know that it isn't what I've seen in the other pics.
Still... although I'll use the remote keyless far more than I'll ever use that, the rest of the car is awesome, and for the deal, I think I can live with it. Now if it turns out to be just a sticker on there that isn't in fact the keypad, I'd be thrilled (because I'll never use the thing), but if not... eh. It's one more option that I suppose could up the later resale value should my wife and I need to sell the car.
Can't wait to get my hands on it! I'll post pics as soon as I come down off of the driving frenzy I'll be doing as soon as I pick her up.
At first, I wasn't really crazy about the white car, but I have to admit that when paired with the red interior, it has to be one of the coolest looking combinations I've seen. Ultra luxurious for certain!
PICS TO COME.... after all....

I'm not sure why Ford still offers the keypad on cars since remote keyless entry comes on all their cars. Why would someone type in a keycode instead of just clicking a button.
Good luck with your new V6 StangerX!

Maybe if you lock your keys in your car?

PS, congratulations & good luck with the car!!!
The keyless entry pad is a staple Ford item, Ford wanted to drop it a few years ago and tens of thousands of protests were promptly heard. Just about every Ford owner with one is now acustomed to locking thier keys in the car, especially at the beach, boating, hiking in parks, or amusement parks.
The one they put on the mustang is the aftermarket ford one that costs about $150 bucks and simply mocks a key fob. It is stuck on the car with double sided tape and can be removed.

Unless someone posts a pic up on the site, I'll be sure to take a close up of it and put it in here with the pics. Ya know... I actually didn't think of that kind of use. If you're doing something where having keys in your pocket is a nuisance, you could simply lock them in the car and then key in to gain access. Not a bad idea! Thanks for the kind words. We're hoping to get the car tonight, like I said, but we've hit a slight slowdown that may cause things to strech into next week.
We really want to get a decent amount for my wife's old car as a trade in, but it's really not possible since the car is torn up. Still, it's a BMW, and I know the private mechanic that fixes nothing but Bimmers. He's got buddies and such that might pay more than the lousy amount the dealer is after. We'll see, I suppose. Anyways. It may slow things down, but we may just take the lousy trade in and deal with it.
We're both anxious to get into a new car, and I am absolutely sick of dealing with this 14 year old car. I like the smell of new!
