Outer Tie Rod Replacement question

Hello-
The other day I noticed a tear on one of the outer tie rods boot. So I went to remove the bad one and for the life of me I cannot get the old one off.
I watched a few videos on youtube and they all say just give the spindle a good whack with a hammer and it will just fall out. I tried that and no luck.
I also bought a pitman arm puller and tried using that, but there is not enough room to get it directly over the bolt. Can anyone tell me if the tie rod end
needs to be "unscrewed" from the spindle, or should it just fall out when you hit the spindle with a hammer? I have never done one of these before so any advice would
be great. Is there a tool that would remove it for me?

Its a 2005 base model mustang

Thanks

Is this bolt threaded all the way thru the spindle?

I think you're gonna need a bigger hammer

IIRC I had the same question/concern when I did mine; but a good whack with a (small) sledge hammer did the trick

but don't take my word for it, I have CRS (Can't Remember Sh*t) so you should wait until someone else confirms, LOL

That worked! I picked up a 4lb hammer at home depot and gave it 2 good whacks and it dropped right out of the spindle lol. Thank you Sir!

I too suffer from CRS
