Ordered 2007 Mustang GT Coupe Today

Well, I bit the preverbial bullet. Went down to Gridley Country Ford and dealt with the same folks that GRAYPNY dealt with. Here are the results of my deal:

X-Plan Price of approx $27,950 before tax and license.

2007 Mustang GT Coupe Premium, Tungsten Grey, Dark Charcoal Leather, 5-spd manual, IUP, Satin Aluminum Panel, Spoiler Delete, Active Anti-Theft, Wheel Lock Kit, Side Airbags, 3.55 gears, 18" Polished Rims, Heated Seats, Premier Trim Pkg

The "issues" I had are:

1. Won't give me a copy of the DORA even though they gave me a copy of the VOC.
2. Asked for $5,000 deposit.
3. 12 to 20 week delivery estimate.
4. Priority Code = 26 on the VOC, I tried to get them to raisse it without luck. Hopefully the wait won't be as long as they say. I am a little concerned on that item.

I believe the VOC has everything I need to check status using the ERL, is that so? It was painful to part with all that cash though! So, the 1969 Coupe is going into storage to make room for the 2007!

5k and 26 priority, go get your deposit back and go elsewhere..... also, i think that x plan price is pretty high. I got the same car without the air bags, anti theft, 18's, 3.55 gears, and the wheel locks, and mine i believe will be a little under 26 grand.

Oh and the dora, they wont have it till tommorow or the next day, so they might have said no to that purely due to them not having it. if you do stick it out, you'll love the car, it'll be here before you know it

Yeah. I am worried he added a couple hundred bucks to the price from when he showed me the VOC at first that had the x-plan price on it and when he brought out the final price info 15 mins later. The VOC he gave me to keep doesn't show the X-plan price on it either to double check.

The guy said they used to give out the DORA but the dealership won't give it out to customers any more.

UPDATE: I just called the dealership to speak with them and they said when the car comes in that the x-plan price will be on the invoice so I can be sure that I am paying the correct price. Also mentioned that even though I am priority 26 that I am the only 2007 Mustang GT in their order bank right now so that I should get picked up quickly. I hope that is the case!!

And lastly they said they should be getting a Shelby in on the 6th so I might rip over there to take some pictures.

As long as they do not have any other Mustangs ordered with a lower priority code, then you are ok. Some dealers prioritize differently. A 26 priority at one dealer could be the same as a 10 at another dealer with a lot of orders.

$5,000 down is WAY out of line in my opinion. Heck I sell $100,000 trucks and don;t ask for that much. Tell them you want interest acrued on your deposit.

The VOC should show the X-plan price unles they edited it out prior to copying it for you. At delivery according to X-Plan rules, they are REQUIRED to give you a copy of the invoice. Also there are 2 forms for the X-Plan program that they are REQUIRED to fill out and have you sign. They do not have to give you a copy of the DORA and quite frankly, a lot of dealers do not.

Hope this helps.

one other question, is the dealer required to honor any other promotions that i qualify for when using x plan? I believe i qualify for a college graduate discount, so should i get that even though i am using x plan?

I'm pretty sure using X-Plan voids the college grad rebate.

That price is probably about right, my order is about the same except I also ordered the Appearance package and Comfort Package. My X-plan price after destination and that advertising fee, is $28,333

When I talked to the dealership last night they said I was the only GT in the system but they had a few stock orders for V-6 Mustangs. I have a feeling that those stock orders all have a higher priority than mine.

By the way, how often should I check with the ERL for VIN assignment? I got the impression that scheduling happens once a week on Thursdays so that I need only check every Friday to see if I have been picked up. Is that so?

Well, I went ahead and cancelled my order with Gridley Ford. I just couldn't feel comfortable with the whole deal. I called Hoblit Ford in Colusa who I have purchased from before and they are willing to do the x-plan for $1,000 deposit ($500 before they found out I wanted the spoiler delete). So I am feeling a lot happier. I'll post tonight how my experience goes at that dealership when I head over to give them the check.

I take it they think 'spoiler delete' cars are harder to move? Spoiler delete is the only way to fly! The Bullitt Mustang got me used to that look. Good luck - I hope the wait goes by fast. I remember that - now I'm waiting on parts...

OK. I blew through the dealership long enough to hand them the check on the way to where family was headed for vacation. Going to get the VOC next week. Sales guy thinks they can get the Mustang to me in 8 weeks (by Sept. 1). So we'll see what my priority code is next week.

That is all, at least I feel better about the whole deal at this point.

I don't blame you Chad. I think the deposit that they wanted was way out of line. Glad you got hooked up at another dealership.

Updated Order Info

I finally got a copy of the VOC from Hoblit Motors today. Appears they didn't place the order until July 5th which stinks since I gave them all the info on June 30th. The good news is that the order has a priority code of 10! I have all the info I need to make sure the order was entered correctly and I can also check in with the ERL.

Speaking of the ERL, my order is currently, clean and unscheduled. Not a shock since the order has only been in the system for 2 days! By the way, how often does the Ford computers try to allocate vehicles? Should I be checking the ERL say once a week on Friday afternoons until I get a VIN?

On a side note, I met up with GRAYPNY today and got a ride in his stang. Got a nice 1-2 and 2-3 tire chirp! That baby's got power!

Thanks!

Wow sounds like a nice car you have ordered. I agree that $5000 down is way out of line. I only had to put down $300 on my order. It looks like if you order a automatic that it gets built in about 4 to 6 weeks or less. If you order a 5-speed it is taking longer. I ordered my 5-speed on June 14 and I get the same message as you from the ERL (just today I called). My dealer claims he has a man on the inside at Ford that can push my order though (wink wink), yea right. I do have a pro. code of 10. I'm hoping for a late August delivery but I'm think probaly closer to winter storage time with my luck.

That's probably standard procedure for them. When I ordered mine the guy told me up front that they place the orders once a week. I ordered on a Saturday and the order went in the following Thursday.

Congrats, hope the wait isn't too unbearable

Hey Chad! It was great meeting you and your wife in person. Both of you seem to be really nice folks and after you get your Mustang we will have to go for a luch cruise somewhere with our ladies.

Still clean and unscheduled

Just checked with the ERL and as of July 27th my car is still unserialized, I am starting to get depressed. Going to put me at 4 weeks minimum just to get a VIN assigned, I suppose I should have been prepared since I was dealing with a small dealer but it still sucks.

That is all....

Waiting is hard. I waited 22 weeks for mine so you have some time left.
