It was an interesting (good) experience. The dealer is allowing us to use the X-plan, but it didn't matter much anyways right now because they didn't have '06 pricing.

We went with the 2006 Mustang GT Deluxe pkg in Vista Blue (can't wait to see what it looks like)

THere were 2 options for 18" rims. We went with the Premium ones

THere were 2 choices of tires, we went with the 235/50zr18.

We were given the option of getting a 3.31 Limited Slip diff. I thought this came standard on the Mustang GTs. Of course we got it, this car is for my wife!

I look forward to seeing more information about the new model.

t9r, is this an automatic?, because the gear ratio is 3.55 for '05 w/ a stick, (you want the biggest number possible for performance)

is this in Canada?

do you know what other rear end option were avail.?

was the Limited Slip diff an option?

do you know what the wheel differences are?
are they the "fanblades" pollished or chromed then painted

did the dealer say they will hold the order till order banks are open or did he give impression that you have a official order, ask for a order confermation or DORA (they can fax it) and please let us know asap

my trusted dealer can't put an order in, it will not accept for '06 mustang

Go look at a Sapphire Blue Honda Accord Coupe and you'll see what Vista Blue looks like. Good luck with your 06 I sometimes wish I would have waited for a true blue color like that.

What were the two 18" wheel options? Can you be more specific?

What was the other tire option? Did you order the largest size?

I'd heard a rumor that the LS would be an option with the GT in '06 (standard in '05).

Thanks for the info!

just visited the tire calculator website

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

and confirmed the only difference in the 235/50/18 vs the '05 std size of 235/55/17 is the sidewall height, that kinda stinks as far as looks go, these tires are way to narrow.

Yes, the car is an automatic (for my wife) I got to drive a V6 vert, standard after placing our order, that was a fun little car. The top was down and we could talk without yelling at highway speeds... and that means alot, though we are newlyweds (no yelling).

We did go for the coupe though.

I ordered the car in Maryland (US)

THere were no other options available, on the order screen, as for different ratios.

For some reason the Limited Slip was an option, why I don't know. Order code 453.

Total there were 4 options avail for wheel, if memory serves me correct. All I knew is I wanted the 18" premium (no photos or any better description.
1 - 16"
1 - 17" mentioned painted
2 - 18" One mentioned machined (64E) and one was premium (order code 64w)

Tires... one size was 235.... the other was a 255 something. The salesman knew his tires well and said the 235's were wider.

I got a SMALL print out of the stuff we orded, only has a 4 digit "order no"... it was an antiquated looking monitor screen green text, black background, no photos. Dlr said they'd call when they know build date, and more information. THey were not sure it could be put into the system (dont' know what system exactly), but it went in as an 2006.

That's all I know for now. Thad

Well, if your salesmen knows his tires, he flat out lied when he said that the 235s were wider than the 255s. That number is the tread width in milimeters. The larger the number, the wider the tread.

The 64E are the Fanblade rims and the 64W are the Bullitt rims. (64W won't be ready till October)

I'm in PA, and having a hard time finding a dealer that will accept X-Plan pricing. Who/where was the dealer in MD that allowed you to order using X-Plan?

Thanks.

So does this mean you plan on driving like the guy and gal in the movie "The Legend of D.B. Cooper??!"

Yes, you are correct, he was wrong.

We ordered the 64W, but if they don't come in till Oct, then we may perfer the fanblade (64E), gotta see photos before making my mind up.... I mean we make our mind up.

So, let me get this straight. One 18" wheel option is being offered with a 235/50/18 tire, and the other I assume is being offered with a 255/45/18 tire? I have an '05 GT, but have been planning on upgrading to the 18" wheels when they become available from Ford in '06. 235/50/18 seems too skinny for me. I have wanted the tire wheel setup from the '04 auto show car all along (18" fanblades with 255/45/18 BFG KDW tires). I wouldn't mind the Bullitts though.

Which wheel is being offered with the 255/45/18 tire setup, if this tire setup is even being made available, 64E (fanblades) or 64W (Bullitts)? Also does anyone know what the width of the wheel is, 8" of 9"?

Thanks, if anyone has any clarification on this.

255/45/18 Section Width: 10.03 in 255 mm vs 9.25 in 235 mm

27.17 in 690.11 mm tall for the 235/55/17 vs 27.03 in 686.56 mm tall for 255/45/18

and aprox 1/2 inch less sidewall compared to the 235/55/17's

the 255/45 is the logical size Ford has chosen for the 18" package and 10 inch wide tires is not bad (from Ford)

thanks for the reply,
re. the order conformation, ask your dealer for the DORA, can't remember what it stands for but it is the official conformation your car has been submitted for order, the dealer should recieve the DORA for your car within days of order, if they can't show it, the car is just inline (at dealer) to be ordered, nothing official, don't feel bad as I believe many have done this, it just that some dealers mislead or just dont know better, also fyi the job 1 (start of production) for 06 Mustangs is reported to be sometime in august

Thanks Thad.

That will be worth the drive up the Eastern Shore. I don't think anybody in the Annapolis area is accepting X-plan yet.
