order codes available before order bank opens?

Does anyone know? Do the order codes usually come out before the orders can be placed? My dealer told me he would take a deposit on my Cobra as soon as the order codes are available. I don't remember from last year if the codes were out before the order date or not.

The Cobra is still a full model year away as an '07.
In the past the Order Guides have been out at least a month before the edits open allowing you to actually submit the order.
However I am sure in the future this time lag will shorten then disappear altogether.
Orders in the system don't go anywhere until there is allocation anyway.
I could put 100 orders in the system, but without allocation it doesn't matter.

Rumor has it that the cobras may be available in 06 and with all the mules being spotted, I don't know... Anyone hear if they are supercharging a 4.6L or using the 5.4L?

I don't expect him to order it before the orders are available. I want to ensure I am on the list, but, he won't take a deposit until the codes are available. I just don't want to walk in on that day and find out I am 25th on the list and have to wait 6 or 8 months on my car. So I wanted to get an idea of how far ahead of ordering that the codes were available.

Ford has not set an Intro Date for the '07 Cobra. Once that is set you will have a better idea on timing.
They usually release Order Guides 3 months or so before an Intro date.
Talking to your dealer is the only way you can ensure you will get their first '07 Cobra. If they do not give you a direct answer, then they have probably promised their first to someone else.
I am sure it will be spoken for or decided long before the Order Guide is released.

Thanks for the info. I don't even need to have their first. I just don't want to be low on the list. He tells me I am on his "mental list." I believe him to a point. I have been dealing with this guy for a long time. I have never ordered a new car though. I have always bought out of stock.
I guess I am just nervous after seeing all these people who are having trouble getting their GTs. The Cobras are going to be even more difficult to come by.
BTW, my first Mustang was a Yellow '79 Cobra, but, it was the 4cyl Turbo. I have a lot of memories in that car. I have often thought about trying to find one and restore it. The cost would not be worth the value though.

The cost is never worth the value.
That's why this is a hobby!
With the '79, its not worth much so I don't have to worry when I drive her.
Although she is rated 140hp it does have 255 torque and is very capable as stock.
She is brutally simple, bullet-proof and lots of fun to drive.
Sideways is the best way to corner!
