Hey All,

Just wanted to throw this out to see what kind of feedback I can get. I'm moving from Colorado to Florida, but I'm not sure exactly when. My wife is stationed in Tampa, but will be in training for 19 weeks, so I have a little while that I can hold out for a job transfer so I don't have to quit my job. However, I will be moving by January if I don't get a transfer sooner.
So, that being said, I was kickin' around the idea of ordering my car before I get there so that I don't have to wait another 6 months after I get there to get the car.
Anybody have a feel for how well this will sit with a dealer. I also don't want to order too early, and wind up having to wait until January to move while the car is delivered before I get there. I get X-plan thru work, so If anyone can tell me if they know of any dealers in Clearwater that will accept X-plan... and if not Clearwater, than anywhere in the Tampa area. And... if anyone can say what they would expect for turn around from order to delivery.... I'm sure I could do a search on that.... but I'm being lazy.

Thanks.

Talk to Carlos Medina at Gary Yeomans Ford in Daytona Beach. It is a little bit of a ride, but it is well worth it. His number is 386-274-6700, extension 1585. X-plan may be tough, but if you are flexible on timing they may go for it. Otherwise, count on having your car about 5-6 weeks after you order it.

I got mine from Carlos...only 31 days from order to delivery! I'd recommend them if you want your car fast.

Talk to Bob Shaw at Bill Currie Ford in Tampa (813-872-5555, *731). He's a good guy and he'll let you know what they can do for you one way or the other.

I linked the avatar from a website where I had pics of my car taken. The site changed it's address, etc... therefore the pics moved. I've got the pic on CD, but can't get it to read. Don't worry, I'll get her back up.

You might want to take a look at the tax difference between the states as I heard Florida has sky high taxes. I know there are guys here that can fill you in. It is a great FUN car for sure.

That's partly why I've waited to order it. If I were to buy before I left Colorado, I'd be paying a 7.82% tax.... and that doesn't include what it's going to cost to plate it either. It's robbery here. Plus, I don't want to put 3000 miles on it just to get it to my new home.

You may try Freedom Ford in Clearwater or Brandon Ford in Tampa.

Who is that dealer on HWY 19 about a mile south of Curlew? ... I read something once that they are the biggest or one of the biggest Saleen dealers in the nation.... That's a stone throw from my mother-in-laws house... anybody have anything good to say about them?

The whole tax question only applies if you are buying the car in Florida and having it drop shipped to your local dealer (or driving it back). Tax rate at Yeomans is 6.25%, which I thought was state wide. You will only pay the difference if the tax in your home state is higher. I paid .25% back in Illinois after I had the car drop shipped to my local dealer, which cost me $250. It really was not an extra cost to me (except the drop ship fee), because I would have had to pay the tax here regardless.

Sounds like you should just wait until you move down there, if the move is inevitable. Whenever you decide to buy, Carlos and the Yeomans crew get results. Starting the process now may just get you that x-plan through them.

Yeah, the only way I could avoid paying my local tax is if I were to use a Florida address.... I suppose I could use my ma-in-law's if I had to until my wife and I are both there, but I didn't realize the turn around was so quick.... I just remember people had been waiting 6 months at 1 point in time.
So.... at this point, I guess I'm just fishin' for everyone's opinions on the local dealers. Who may be the "best" to work with, and those that will honor X-plan.
In case I can't find 'em.... Where is Yeomans?

Gary Yeomans Ford
Carlos Medina
1420 Tomoka Farms Road
Daytona Beach, FL 32124

386-274-6700 extension 1585

Good luck!

Like I said, you might be able to get x-plan if they can control the timing of your order. Call Carlos and explain your situation to him; he will give you straight and honest answers.

Remember, the people who are waiting six months (I waited over 4 until I found Yeomans) are dealing with dealers that have very little or no allocation. It is a battle they can't win. If you want a Mustang, you have to fish where the fish are.

If your ordering 06 bob will honor x-plan. I have my club members do it all the time. In fact had one order last week. Also they are giving the new ford incentive on the new orders which end up being cheaper. Give them a call and Bob can help you out. I can call ahead of time if you like. Sales tax is dependant on county. Here is a current link to orange counties : http://www.octaxcol.com/tag_titles.htm . You will find it all the way on the bottom.

Hope that helps.

Roger
