Optima red top/stock hood clearance

For those running the Optima Red Top series 35 battery with the stock hood - any clearance issues/hood liner rubbing to report? Thinking of going with this battery but want to make sure no fitment issues. And before anyone suggests "use the search feature" I did.

Also if anyone is using this Optima battery with any of the various aftermarket billet battery trays available for it, could you either post up or PM me pics? I'm talking installed pics, not pics of just the tray itself. Plenty of those pics on Ebay.

Thanks

I don't know what series it was but I got one from Auto Zone last year. I took a straight edge from the fender to the cowl and it was too close for me. When I took it back to the stoe the guy told me to put a piecce of heater hose over the posts. Igot my money back and went and got the motorcraft battery from the dealer. If you notice the battery posts are in kind of a notch to lower them.

I'm running a yellow top without issues. I don't know if the red top is taller or not.

I'm running a Red Top series 35 myself. It's close, but it does not rub or hit the hood. I'm using the factory tray and hold down. I did put a small rubber pad under the battery to lift it ever so slightly to get a snug fit, but have had zero issues so far.

Mine did at just over 2 years. I went with the Red Top because I wanted the extra CCA for my car audio system, otherwise I would have probably purchased another Motorcraft due to the odd size.

A lot of people go for the Yellow Top (deep cycle) version, but I don't really ever run my system without the car running so a deep cycle battery is not for me.
