awesome story. My first car was given to me by my dad when I turned 16. It was a 77 Mustang. It was parked in the garage without me knowing it. He asked me to go out and get something from the garage. When I opened the door I was shocked. Ya, I know, a 77 Mustang II but ever since then I have been hooked. Anytime my dad gives me a hard time about mustangs I just remind him that he started it

Yeah, me too! I wish you had a camera crew with you. The look on his face would have been worth it.

My son, who is 19, asked me if he would ever get my GT. He drives a 3 year old Hyundai back and forth to college (he's a Dean's List student).

I asked him if his car was still running.....YEP! I asked him if he was ready to double his insurance payment for a Mustang.....NOPE! I asked him if he had $26K laying around that he'd like to give me for the Mustang.....NOPE! I asked him if he'd like to get 17 MPG that my Mustang gets as opposed to the 27 MPG his Hyundai gets.....NOPE! I asked him if he'd like to pay for his own education.....NOPE! I asked him if he'd like to foot the bill for the food he eats out of the fridge....NOPE! I asked him if his free bed and A/C in the house is to his liking.....YEP! I asked him whether he liked the free use of the backyard pool.....YEP!

He's more than happy with keeping his Hyundai!!!!!!

Your son has lived my fantasy. I wish one day I would go out to do stuff with my dad and he had to stop at formo's for something (ford dealer). Then in the show room would be a 2005/06 Legend Lime Mustang GT bullitts rims. I'd go look at it and then the dealer would give the keys to me. the same way your story happened. It was like you got it out of my head. Or I would want to wake up one morning like on my b-day or x-mas or something. The my parents would tell me to go the garage and I would find my stang. I would be the happiest kid ever. But my parents are to cheap and that would never happen. I'm not complaing, they are going to pay for my schooling in a year, so I'm happy.

Very very sweet story and a good one too !
I hope he will enjoy his new ride, courtesy of his dad, and I hope you will send the Jetta back to VW so that they can put it in a museum as it's a total miracle of a car...eheheh

Actually I have 2 '06 Verts on order and only need one.
Anyone want one?

Dealer will agree to pass on the X-plan price.

awesome story especially the fact it looked like my own dream.
I am 20,drive an old VW and I dream about owning a Mustang.
My father promised me to ship me one from the States.I was very happy and then I saw a black Mustang shipped by a private import company.I called my father to have a look at it.In the evening after he saw the Pony he told me the interior was crappy, the car was too big,it was too thirsty and he didn't like that "American junk" at all.
That's my story (((

So I tell my son to come with this Saturday to run some errands, nothing special, hardware store, mall, get a bite to eat.

Cool Dad he says, who says seventeen year old kids are problematic?!

So we’re driving and talking.

I ask about his ride, no new complaints from him.
For the last 14 months he has been driving a real junk.
21 year old Jetta, 450,000 miles, cardboard for side passenger window.
No heat, no air, no radio, no gas gauge, no speedo, no odo (put gas in every few days…wild guess).

Drips coolant, exhaust FEEL off 2 months ago, had the muffler shop tack in on again – loud now.

We are coming up on a few car dealers and HE ASKS if we have time to stop at the FORD place a look around.

darn – this is PERFECT.

For the last few months he’s been reading all the magazines, has the brochures, building his dream car.

A V-6 coup, mineral or silver, 500 watt radio, base kinda car.

We stop in, walk around, and he notices a New Silver Premium V-6.
Has the shinny spinner wheels, exterior and interior Sport Appearance package, ABS.

Has a SOLD sign in the windshield.
He looks in, “Cool, Dad, check this out, not the charcoal but the graphite interior, looks COOL Dad.”

“And hey, doesn’t the Sport Appearance package usually come with the Mustang decals on the side? This guy had them taken off, COOL.”

I kid you not, I could not have asked for this to play out any better.

Then the owner’s son, John, comes around the corner and says hi to me.
He works the GM role.

I have a GT Vert on order and my son knows all about it and he knows that I’m working with this dealer.

Hellos all around.

Son says, “Dad, you know I thought Mineral Grey with charcoal was cool but THIS is HOT, Silver on graphite.”

John puts his hand in his pocket and hands my son the keys, says “There you go”

He looks puzzled, confused.

Then John flips over the SOLD card. . My son’s name on the back.

HIS JAW DROPPED.
HE WAS SPEECHLESS.
HE WAS DAZED AND CONFUSED.

“How about you give me a ride in your new Mustang?” I ask.

Let me tell you, I have ONE HAPPY KID on my hands.

Now WHERE IS MY VERT ! ! ! !
BTW - both cars X-plan

Way to go Dad! You just made his year. Good parents live for opportunities like this. The look of excitement on their faces when you unexpectedly get them something they love is priceless. I'v learned that and my daughter is only 3! Congrats!

Yes indeed it is a great smile. Gave one to my son too.

That is simply a terrific story.....

A bit opposite from my story....When I was 16 (1993), my dad bought me an '87 Olds Cutlass Supreme. He said he'd put the car and insurance in my name so as to teach me some responsibility of car ownership. I learned real fast that, since I owned it, i could do with it as I saw fit. ABout a week later, i found a pristine 85 Mustang 5.0, sunroof, 5-speed with 30,000 miles on it!

Needless to say, i came home that day with a 1985 Mustang 5.0. Dad never questioned me about it, because I was oh-so eager and willing to remind him of his first car...a 1965 mustang.

I just recently sold that 5.0 too, it had 170,000 miles on it and barely ran........Oooooooh i loved that car.

My son, who just turned 1, will have my '06 GT on his 16th birthday, that is my pledge!

Adam, that has to be the greatest Mustang story EVER!
It should be a freakin' commercial.
Say Congrats to your son for us, and make sure to take some pics of that Mustang with your son!

Just awesome, almost brought a tear to my eye
