Who has replaced their oil filler neck with a breather without pulling the valve cover. Now before i go any further i would just like to say i am not calling anyone a liar or anything like that, just getting more points of veiw. Reason i say that is i posted similar thread on other forums which people responded saying there is a clip on the inside of the cover holding it in place that could break seperate from the tab that stop on the valve cover on the outside. Then i have read some articles where it just takes some muscle to get it off, but doesnt mention of any clip inside the cover. So what do you guys think, does my OEM valve covers have a clip on the inside or should i just twist that sucker off? I already have the pvc valve breathers and i really dont feel like pulling the **** cover and wind up there be no clip in there. Can anyone verify?

 

I was told it was a twist. The neck wasn't twisting. So I leveraged the external clip with a screwdriver. The clip popped and flew way far away. Then the neck twisted.

i have the breather sitting in my trunk all lonely, dont want to pull the cover for a simple filler neck. any others out there?

 

There is a clip on the inside for sure. You will break it if you just try to muscle it off. I will see if I can find some pics when I get home.

I don't see why you can't remove it while on the vehicle as it is just a matter of releasing the tab on the outside.

Dohh, forgot to look at my pictures from my cam install. I remember there being slots on the underneath, but the tab on the outside could be the only one. As soon as I get a few minutes of relaxation I will post pics.

 

Go ahead and try, you'll find out. I'm not harsh and I'm not weak, the tab still flew. :dunno

 

i think im just going to leave it alone for now. if i get too much blow by for the passenger side pcv breather to handle then i will put this on. till then, im leaving well enough alone.

 

You can still run the breather with the filler tube in place.

but the other peice is what has the baffle in it that replaces the filler tube. im not looking for a royal mess, that thing would be to saturated and start causing an oil mess right?

whoa whoa, i DO have the CFM oil filler breather. but the peice that replaced the stock filler neck is the peice that prevents the mess(baffle) right? thats why when it was suggested to me to just run the breather on the stock oil fill neck i said it would most likely cause a royal mess that i didnt want.

 

I'm running the CFM oil breather on the stock oil filler neck. And K&N breathers on the valve covers. No problems here. I did have alot of blow by out of the passenger side breather before I got the CFM oil cap. But after adding it thats taken care of teh problem.

I'm also running about 10.5-11 psi boost.


I do have a 2007, does that make any difference?

 

The CFM oil filler breather fits the stock plastic oil filler neck. It screws in in place of the oil cap. The stock oil filler neck attaches to the valve cover in the same exact manner that the oil cap fits into the oil filler neck. Try it. If it doesn't work, I'll post pics tomorrow to help.

 

Pics?? Soo might be a dumb question but why do you get more blow by on the passenger side?

Ive noticed my breather fills up much faster on the passenger side vs driver side. I don't have a CMF oil cap, nor did I really know what it is. lol

now i got a reason not to pull the valve cover to put this on! thanks didnt know this!

I "text" TacoBill for you! But yes you can take that plastic tube off no problem while the cover is on the engine. I took mine off and replaced it with a Scott Drake oil cap. I didn't go with the breather route I'm a catch can kinda guy but both methods seem to work just personal preference.
