oil additives?

specifically i am thinking about marvel mystery oil. I already have used seafoam which works great but anyone have any ideas about MMO?

i was thinking about lucas oil stabilizaer but read that it causes the oil to foam up so thats the end of that idea.

what do you hope to accomplish by adding marvel mystery oil. Newer cars shouldn't need that stuff.

I use Seafoam and Marvels in the gas tank on a regular basis to clean the fuel system but not in the engine oil.....modern synthetics are fine by themselves. Old timers would add a quart of trans fluid to an engine to silence a lifter tick (and it would work most of the time) but that was with conventional dinosaur oil not a synthetic. I wouldn't add anything to your synthetic oil. The tick maybe annoying but should not impact the engine and may go away over time anyway. You could send a sample of your oil off for analysis for more peace of mind. I am sure someone on here has a link to a lab and/or an oil analysis kit to purchase.

That's good.

When you hear the tick in the engine go to your exhaust tail pipe & listen for a metallic tick. If you can hear a tick in the exhaust you have something going on in the valve train.

If you think you have a lash adjuster that is slightly collapsed & making the rocker noisy you can try marvel. Put a pint in a couple of hundred miles before you change the oil. You may luck out & clean it. Don't use the Lucas, it is way too thick.

i checked the exhaust and cannot hear any ticking from there

it could just be something i replaced thats doing it alternator or belt although everythings running fine.
just hit 100k and changed pcv valve, plugs and wires with motorcraft parts and shes running fine.

just changed the oil but at 104500 il throw some MMO or seafoam in the oil and give that a whirl just to be safe.

now i just need to replace that **** light in the shifter heh

Pick a good full synthetic and leave the additives alone. The new Pennzoil Ultra is supposed to be a very agressive cleaning oil.

Your fuel injectors will have a light ticking noise.

Normal; they tick. If you're wanting to use Marvel, just add a little to the fuel. Better yet (and cheaper), about 2 ounces per tank of your favorite 2 cyle oil... does the same thing.
