OHNO, What should I do?

My wife is talking about selling the P/U and buying a newer one. If we do that I might not(read more than likely) be able to buy my stang. We need to get rid of the gas hog though,and we need a P/U. What do I do

I currently have a pickup and am going to sell it to get my 05 Stang. Before this truck, we didn't have one at all, just 2 cars.
When we needed to go to Home Depot or get something that did not fit in the car, we just went and rented a U-Haul or similar. At $30 it is a deal because for me, I use my truck more as a "car" than a truck, if you know what I mean. B)

My wife likes Mustangs,but she also likes P/Us. That 1 ton 4x4? Well its really HERS. 7 miles to the gallon :bang: Nice looking truck though. So shes thinking about getting rid of it,Well that is probably a good thing. But she wants another truck. Here is my dilema.
The truck is paid off,but gets lousy gas milaege.
My Taures gets great gas milaege but Im upside down in the payments right now.

Give her the taurus, buy an older "beater" p/u and sell her truck. Pay off your taurus with the money you gain from the truck. Save car payments for next 6mo-1yr. Buy '05 Mustang in spring. Simple.

Whenever I need a truck i can either borrow or rent one. For the amount of time i use or need a truck it isn't worth owning one. Tell her she would look cooler(sexier) in a Stang 
instead of a truck :notnice: she'll get the point----

As a wife, whose husband already owns 2 mustangs (soon to be 3 when the '05s are out) I can give you this piece of advice: Just tell her what you want.
Wives, like Husbands, do not have ESP and most reasonable women will listen and will want to make you happy.
If being honest doesn't work try puppy dog eyes and tell her she can pick the color.

There should be some way to compromise. After all, the '05 Mustang doesn't happen every day!!
A little less than 2 years ago I got my husband what he wanted - a Lightning.
And, let me tell ya - he LOVES his truck!!
So, now it's my turn......I can't wait to get my '05.

You buy a new truck, you'll get what 15-18 mpg?
Let's assume a 20 gallon tank, and gas at $1.65, driving
1250 miles per month. (Thats 15000 per year)
1250/7= 179 gallons per month for a montly cost of 295.35 for gas.
New truck we'll call it 18 mpg
1250/18 = 70 gallons per mont for a monthly cost of 115.50
Ok, so you are saving $179.00 per month in gas, but you have to figure in that $300.00 a month truck payment, plus the increase in insurance.
How much are you really saving by getting rid of the gas guzzler? Plus add in the fact that you are paying for a truck that you really didn't want, instead of a Mustang that you really do want.
That's the kind of logic I used to talk my wife into the mustang instead of a newer truck.
