Please somebody slap me and say - "be a man darn it and learn to drive a stick!"

Ask and ye shall receive!!!

...but seriously...it's all up to you. I like to pick my own shift points and be able to run up the revs...if you haven't done that then you won't miss it...but if you DO learn to drive stick and like it...you'll be kicking yourself in the ding ding because you didn't get a stick!!

:drive:

Thanks guys...I needed that

I shall not waiver and keep my current order with the 5-spd manual. Both my bro-in-law and my good friend (both who have a also offered to teach me to drive stick) concur with sticking with the manual over the auto.

The only one who told me to get the auto is my other friend that drives an '04 Mach 1...now I know why....he's JEALOUS!!!!! . Just kidding...he has a sweet ride. But now I can have his performance and the retro look.

BTW...sorry that I didn't post scan of the article, I got back late last night, but luckily someone was nice enough to type it in (thanks!!!). I still plan to get the issue after work. If it's not posted, I'll try to PDF it.
Don't let your 05' GT be your first stick! You'll never get it off the lot otherwise! Buy a $1000 used Civic or Escort with a manual so you can get used to it! Or find a driving class or something! I know how to drive stick but don't assume you can walk up to the car, not know how to drive standard, and expect to drive it! You'll need practice. Stick with the manual for the 05 though, just find a driving school to teach you stick. It doesn't matter if you have to learn in it in a Yugo or Kia Sephia! It's better you mess up on a POS than a Mustang GT! [/b][/quote]
Thanks for the concern guys - one of my buds (the one that recommended stick over auto) is going to let me use his F-150 truck to learn on. It should be good - it's rear wheel drive and torquey. If it comes down to it, my bro-in-law has offered to drive it from the dealership to home and teach me as well. There's no going back - I'm determined to learn to drive stick. The driving school sounds like another avenue.

Oh, by-the-way - I stopped by the drugstore afterwork to see if they had the Nov. Motortrend...unfortunately they still had the October issue. Sorry guys no scans.

I believe I posted these pics from the MT article in the wrong forum so I'll post them here as well.

That dyno reads about 267 rwhp which is a little lower than the 275rwhp that saleen got but it still puts the car over 300hp at the flywheel

Based on the placement of the rwhp & rwtq #s in relation to the auto article (right in the same block), I wouldn't be surprised if these are indeed the autos's #s (yes I am contradicting what I said in an earlier post).

If this is the case then that means 5 speed might be in the 280rwhp and 297rwtq range. 280rwhp is pretty close to the 275rwhp from the steeda run.

Dump the clutch at half-throttle, and the Mustang GT paints two beautiful, unbroken black stripes-even with the traction control on.
Why did MT say this when they tested an automatic? Is it just poetic license?

I could be wrong, but I think that is when the SVT version will come out. They will still call it a 2006, even though it was released in 2005. Same thing with the 05 stang, it is being released in 2004 and still called a 2005 model. Hope i'm right so we can see the SVT version very soon, but who knows

Sorry, I'm not catching your meaning here.

More juice than the manual? If you are saying the auto is more powerful/faster than the manual, where are you deriving this from?

It is NOT low... What is "it"?
