A buddy told me this was the best board for the new Mustangs. I just bought my new '05 Redfire auto car on Saturday and love it. Much more refined than the '01 GT I had a couple years ago, and quicker, too. I took it to the track Saturday night and made one time-only pass......14.23 at 96.6 with TC on. Everyone was running about two tenths over due to bad air, so I'm hoping for 14.0s in good air once I get my starting line routine down. Did cut a .538 light, so maybe it'll be a decent bracket car.

Planning on exhaust, gears and remap first, and I'm gonna try and restrain myself when it comes to mods. I went overboard with the '01, managing to booger up the EEC and never could get the A/F straightened out, so I'm just a little gunshy. But, the road to heck is paved with good intentions.

I sure wish they hadn't dropped the map pockets on the backs of the front seats like I had in my '01......there just ain't anyplace in the car to put anything....whatever I'm taking better fit in my pockets. And the idea of a prop rod on a $30K car is just......well, dumb. I know they're making hood strut kits for the '04 and earlier cars.....how about the new ones?

Welcome to the Best mustang site there is

Good luck at restraining yourself when it comes to mods. I told myself and my wife that when I first ordered the car. Ah, those were the good ol days of having money

As for the prop rod, ya, it stinks but since when has a Mustang never had a prop rod from factory?

Thanks, John.....just ordered a pair. First mod out of the way....now on to bigger and better things.

Hmmm. Wonder how much trouble it'd be putting my 600hp big block under that '05 hood.......

if you are married you might want to make sure you at least have a place to stay for a few nights once the new parts arrive

Nope.....I was engaged a couple years ago but that kinda fell by the wayside when I started building the coupe. I got a bellyfull of "why do you have to go to the shop every night" and "do we have to go racing this weekend" and "why do you have to spend so much money".

If there's one thing I've learned in all these years, if the choice is between the lady and the Mustang, the lady walks.

Who knows...these mod motors take up a lot of room, and may make a 427 look small.

I imagine it'd be pretty easy. Putting the 466 in my '87 wasn't tough....plenty of room for the motor, but the headers and bellhousing caused some work with a BFH. My buddy put a 466 in his wife's '94 GT and it fit pretty well.....you can see the results in the link below. I'm betting it won't be too long before someone builds a big block '05-6 street car, if they haven't already. Of course, some modification of the concept "street car" might be necessary, but dat's nuttin new!

Well, I hope during those lonely nights, the tailpipe doesn't have any rust on it. Ouch!!!

My '65 had springs on the hinges to keep the hood up instead of a prop rod from factory....then when I put my fibergalss hood on, I added a proprod....go figure....

I hope not.....going that route with my '01 GT led to building the pure racecar. I hope I learned my lesson that time. The coupe is in the process of being sold to a buddy who can afford to spray it into the 8.90s like it was intended. And I'm going to leave the new car mostly stock....and reliable. I loved my '01 but I modded it till it wasn't good for driving OR racing. There's no such thing as a true dual-purpose car. Any concessions to streetability will hurt performance and vice-versa. If you're at all serious about racing, you can't make those concessions. And racing isn't worth doing if you aren't serious about it.

When I bought my '06 GT, she told me "I give you a month, and you'll be modifying it"; Of course I told her, "No I like the car as it is and don't see any reason to modify it." Then three weeks late I got bit by the mod-bug and started ordering parts. Needless to say, I've never heard the end of it...and based on my current set of mods, I suspect I won't for quite some time!
