I've gone to a Saturn dealership to get my car fixed, a salesman came up to me seeing if I wanted to buy a car. Told him no and I was there to get mine fixed, he said "Why do you want to fix that piece of crap, just buy a new one." He saw my face then walked off.

I love my little Saturn... it is crap now b/c I'm too broke to fix it like it should be, so I'm selling and buying an 05 Mustang. I would've punched the guy if he would've stuck around.

And salesmen better not treat me like a moron when I go and get my new baby... I hate when they treat a car that you will LOVE like poo...

SOmeone gave me some advice, only buy a car if it has '0' miles. If it has more, it's been tested and dogged out. Although you'd get a better price, it's just that whoever drive it could've screwed up the clutch...

What amazes me is how many non car people try to sell cars. I can't begin to count the number of times I have ran into car sales people who didn't know the product. Jeez, buy a subscription to a car magazine or two if you are selling them for a living.

Not to belabor a point.....But I special ordered (3) Sn-95 cars. One had 98 miles on it, One had 8. something, the other had 5.8 . The first car had a sticker on it saying it was (Randomly tested). Since learned that this is a normal occurence that you have no control over. Cars are driven here and there in the lots and delivery pens. It's probably unrealistic to expect 0 mileage.
Good luck though.

On the 2005's for sure. I'm not too sure the car is going to be driven right off the line onto the truck and then right off the truck and just sit there. I see sales people wanting to play with the new Mustang. I know my local dealership used the new cars for lunch runs. Special order ones.....not to sure if they would do that. They could say it was a pre-delivery test drive, you know, to ensure it's okay for you.

we put 10 miles on all our new motorcycles after setup... I'm sure many car dealers do something similar.

A dealership has no reason to test drive the car for you IMO. Quality control is a production plant responsibility. If you find something wrong, take it back to the dealer.

this site has made me around $250!!! People make bets on things that they dont know about and get so angry. I just try to inform people and they get defensive so I bet them that I am right and becuase of this site I have yet to lose a bet about the 05 mustang. Such as some girl who bet me $20 that the 05 will have four point harnesses.

Go back and show him the truth!

Even the Ford site says different, so he deserves a slapping!

I worked--briefly, just in November--as a salesman at a local Ford store. Not one of the salesmen even knew that there was going to be a new 2005 Mustang. I was the resident "expert" amd they referred all questions to me. Even the sales manager was clueless.

The truth is that they want to move product off the lot, especially used cars which is where they really make money.

It wasn't uncommon to see a $13,000 used car sale with $4K profit in it go out the door.

If you were a dealer, would you rather sell one of those or a give away a new car at a couple of hundred over invoice? It's a business, folks.

Do your homework, be patient, and you won't get screwed.

You probably all know about this site: www.carbuyingtips.com It's a very long read so I'd print it out and study it. It'll save you a ton of money. Knowledge is your friend.

Ford has offered virtually no training to sales staff on the 05 Mustang yet, BUT most salespeople take some initiative to learn products, or the training coordinators for the sales team usually gives out information to the others. Yes used cars are where its at, i made $2700 on 2 used cars today before bonus's, I have most likely 6 going out(including a HD truck at full pop, a T-bird, 2 explorers, 2 supercrews, including a used diesel duelly, WOOT) on monday, not including "fresh" ups or non scheduled customers. Its gonna be a long day

Kevin, I hope it works out Monday. That should be awesome. Hope you don't have to be married on any of those.

I value integrity more than brand loyalty in car salesmen, and Kevin seems to have it. As I've said before, if I lived anywhere near him, he'd have my business.

there is no brand loyalty among car buyers either for the most part. I'm sure Ford wished it had the brand loyalty Harley-Davidson has.

Mitsubishi tortured and killed American prisoners, most by starvation, others by torture and dismemberment if they couldnt work anymore in Japan after the survivors of the Bataan Death March arrived in the homeland. They used Americans as slaves and they died by the thousands there.

good old Japan
