As I previously posted, my first dealer forgot to tell me three months ago that he did not have any more allotments. So now he tells me he can't submit the order until Nov. So I called around. Another member had a link to "Local Ford Dealers." There was 50 dealers within 50 miles. I called all 50. Two sounded promising. Yesterday, one of them said he has one. He gave me an updated DORA / Status Sheet today (Friday).

It has a VIN # of 110745.
No build date yet, it just shows as "SUB TO PLA," with a status date of 10/12.

I confirmed the order today and he put my name on it. He said as he gets updates he will let me know. He agree to X-plan pricing. He did not even push me for a deposit. And he said there would be no dealer prep/stickers.

I feel much better, going from one dealer to another and getting a VIN quicker.

The only thing I noticed is that there is no Priority Code on the DORA. Does that go away after it is submitted to the plant?

I'll leave the first nameless. But I switched to Tom Clark (out in Greensburg). The guy seems nice so far.

Mine was Sub to plant about 2 weeks ago and VIN about 3 weeks ago and scheduled to build the end of last week. I think DORA is before VIN assignment. Either way it looks like you are ready to go soon.

I thought that when you went to 'Sub to plant 'is when you got the VIN. You actually got the VIN a week before 'Sub to plant'?

You may not want your name on the order. Seems like the orders for 'Stock' are getting through the system while the 'Retail' orders for specific customer names are having delays. If your order doesn't have a priority 10 it ain't going to get built anytime soon.

I called Shults. They did nto have any close to what I liked. Tom Clark had one and all they had to do was change the body color. Everything else is as exactly as I want it.

My order does not have my name on it. As far as Ford is concerned it's ordered for stock with a priority 10. It appears the dealer has the order # flagged internally with my name. Last time I was there My folder was updated with the latest status report with VIN# and Build date highlighted. Maybe there is something to the stock vs. retail thing. As long as I get my car I'll be a happy camper ( I just want it now!!!!).

I'm not sure if he literally put my name on the order, or is just holding the car in my name at the dealer. Especially since the order was placed before I entered the picture. I just came in after and said, I'll take that order that already has a VIN.

I did not think to ask (until this part of the thread).

i'm not sure if it has anything to do with stock vs. customer order, each dealer assigns a priority to each of their orders. So if internally at the dealer they are submitting their stock orders with priority 10 and customer order with priority 11 and up... well you can see in this scenario why it may seem this way.
